Blimey Jerzy, you will have finished three builds for this GB in the time it will have taken me to complete one! And all of yours are beautifully detailed too!

Phoenix, nothing of mine, three or ten of them are comparable with your "Alte Dornier" masterpiece... :)

Hi,

For whole day yesterday and majority of today I was not able to connect to BM. Was it like that in general?

I worked on Hoever

First I made float struts riging

I worked a bit on re-surfacing of floats

27541917939_689da83df2_b.jpg

The inspection openings I made of alu foil

Then I made some detailing of lower sideof upper wing - fuel tubes etc.

27541916699_ee990a3234_b.jpg

I made new exhaust collecter (from Airfix MIG 15 jet engine inlet) - not finished yet

And started detailing fuselage and glued floats.

Especially rear canopy requires some additional work since it is too shalow.

Current state:

Bottom is painted with Humbrol 128. The blue on insignias will be wider - made of decal strip intead.

Hi,

I decided to replace original ("box") glassing by a scratchbuild. I was not happy with how it looked. Model has rear canopy moved too much forward (if you compare to photos). Moreover, the movable part of gunner canopy was removed during campaign of April-June 1940. All photos from this time shows only rear windscreen.

Next of today activity was mounting exhaust. It was a bit dificult but went on.

I made some initial painting. Then I drilled 0.4 mm holes for rigings of wings. It was 64 (!) openings. I used electric drill.

(as usually)

Then I glued upper wing... :)

39339273561_ffb0ffa558_b.jpg

I have checked the distance beteween wings, it is exactly as on drawings

39339272521_1597e6f992_b.jpg

Some remarks on scheme. It is known from two photos (seen in the background on photo below)

25470739098_980396a3dd_b.jpg

A general idea about top is visible. Lower wing has mottled scheme. On upper wing I see three colours (white and two shades of green-grey?). If you look in book (much better quality then in this photo) you cannot exclude some mottled spots in one place. The fuselage has also interesting mottled scheme. I do not know what to think about the dark one. Is it black? - since "8 is black. Or just dark green-grey? It is for some reason much darker than any colour on He 115...I have to decide.

To be continued

More about the painting scheme. In net there is a profile of "8" from those two photos:

Znalezione obrazy dla zapytania hover mf 11

However - it is a mirror picture (with some errors) of what is seen on photo. Number 8 is remains of "328"  hich is apparently roughly overpainted with 8 painted around with white colour (traces of original grey remained). So on right side "8" is close to gunner position, but on left is much more closer to the end! Conclusion is that above profile is wrong...

Hi Jerzy,

Good progress again! The colour scheme seems to be very interesting but I agree it's difficult to decipher from the B&W pictures. I guess a certain degree of artistic license will be called for :)

Cheers

Many thanks, gents for comments. Those Norwegian camos from campaign in 1940 are attracive indeed. I did He 115 last year and now I've started work on Fokker CV with also iteresting scheme.

I actually have the decals to do the He-115 in that second pic.  First time I have seen an actual pic of that one.

This was discussed about year ago on airplanes WWII section here on BM. Interesting is that the scheme on He-115 was changing during month of action - there are photos showing differences for example of pattern on tail (for the same machine with "52").

There is a thread from my build of this machine

Do you mind if I ask what you are rigging the planes with please ?

Pat, this is EZ cable. The most nice feature is elesticity of it.

It's also nice to see someone else spending time resurfacing their floats

Thank you David for noticing that...

Excellent details, Jerzy! @JWM

If you haven't noticed already, the GB deadline has been extended one week,  till 14 January. No need to rush now :)

Magic modelling there Jerzy. I've just had a catch up on this after letting it get away from me in the run up to Christmas. I'm glad I did, your work & rigging especially is a reward in itself. I hope the festive season treated you & yours well. :)

Steve.

Steve, many thanks for your comment.

I am fighting right now with varnish...

Still hoping to finish today, but likely  I will not able to do daylight shots. Sunset is at 4 PM this time of year.

Excellent job, Jerzy! The camouflage on this one is really something special and the model display the same care and attention to detail as the previous two entries! Congratulations on an excellent trio! :clap2:
