Squibby
Hi All, I spent almost 2+ months putting a little 1/72 scale Tamiya Fw-190 kit together pretty much out of the box and this is all I have to show for it.... Airbrushed with Gunze RLM shades, weathered with oil paints, enamel panel line washes, dry pigments and oil from my sweaty fingers... Not much done outside the box, I added some Eduard generic Luftwaffe seatbelts, drilled out the gun barrels, added some brake lines and an antenna wire. Check out the WIP thread, which honestly isn't amazingly helpful or informative but has some pretty pictures of the beautifully detailed but hidden Tamiya cockpit at least. Enjoy!

Squibby
Thanks for all the kind comments I really loved the kit, it's what you expect from Tamiya really... Excellent engineering, well moulded smooth high quality plastic, good to perfect fit throughout and lots of really fine surface detail. I'd heartily recommend it to anyone after a early model Fw190. I picked this one up when I was in Japan (along with a few other choice Tamiya kits as they were priced like Airfix is here, i.e. cheap as chips). The build was really stress free, a couple of swipes of PPP around micro-gaps, and some routine seam clean-up was all that was necessary, which was good because I get to my favourite stage of painting and weathering quicker
ArmouredSprue
Absolutely marvellous! How did you make that antenna connectors close to the ruder? Cheers
baldwin8
A very complete finish. The photography is well done, not much lost with depth of field. Beautiful.
Squibby
@ArmouredSprue Have a quick look at my WIP thread, right at the end there is a close up shot of the turnbuckle and a convoluted description of how I threaded it. I use very small dia brass tube (I think around 0.5mm OD or so?), I actually had to carefully drill out the hole with an no. 80 drill bit before I could thread through it twice. @baldwin8 Cheers, I was using a 50mm prime lens (which has a narrow DoF) so I set my aperture at F16, kept the lighting quite dim (pointed my modelling lamp at the ceiling) and took a long exposure shot (10 seconds) Focused on the middle of the plane.
