Can anyone help me with this one? On 20th August 1942, Lancaster R5543 of 61 Squadron was shot down over Northern Spain by Ju88C's of the Zerstorer flight of KuFlGr106 (soon to become V/KG40). I would like to know the Lancaster's individual letter, please?

Hmmm. I Can't give you a code letter (easily), as it's not one recorded in Harry Holmes' Lancaster book. It appears to have escaped being recorded in the ORB also.

should get you to AIR27/577/40, page 13 (of 19).

Not listed in bill Chorley's book for 1942 either.

You may need to copy & paste the link, if it doesn't open directly.

The 2nd you, above, should read "your". The Lancaster was on a Coastal Command operation. I have found references on the Internet, but not the code letter.  I intend to make a model of it, with the Ju88 that was also lost in the engagement.
