The Wife usually manages to find a couple of cheap kits a year in charity shops.

In the last 2 years she has picked up: Airfix 1/72 BBMF set for £4.99, Airfix BOB set £3.99, Airfix D-Day set (twice for a few quid and only about 20% of the models had been (badly) built), Revell 1/87 Big Boy Locomotive, Revell 1/48 F9F Panther and a whole load of Tamiya 1/700 ship kits etc.

She has picked up cars, planes, motorbikes, ships and even some Dr Who models - no armoured funnily enough...

Most are well worth it but some are only good for practising on or giving to the kids to do something with.

Man! She's good to me.

The downside is that instead of building as much as I can, when I can, I sometimes have to do "family bonding" type stuff which is really wearing cos we can't really do anything as a family without constant arguments and whining.

I agree. I'm at the end of my rope.

It should draw to a close.

What, you all sit round a resin kit and pass round the contact adhesive ? :)

Be careful, there are modellers out there - you run the risk of starting a very long thread about what, exactly, is the right colour for the bridge.

Funny you should mention that...

That's a great price.

I've acquired an Airfix P-40E and new mould Spitfire I for £2.50 apiece. More recently there was a Frog Barracuda for sale for a tenner. A bit steep, I thought, but as I've no great knowledge of old kit prices I googled it when I got home. There was one going for exactly the same price on eBay. Looks like they've got wise and the bargains may be a thing of the past round here.

John.
