Great stuff, nicely done.

402 at Kenley - 'Johnnie' Johnson's Wing?

This plane later became Johnnie Johnson's mount in 416 Sqd with Popeye removed and the code changed to JE*J

As shown it was flown by Ian Keltie

EN398

Hi - thats a fantastic job you have done. Can you tell me what colours / make you painted it in.

@kitman I used Tamiya RAF colors (XF-81, XF-82, and XF-83). The Ocean Grey and Medium Sea Grey are from the jar, but I feel like the Tamiya RAF Dark Green XF-81 is WAY too brown out of the bottle so I mixed it with XF-67 NATO Green: 3 parts XF-67 to 1 part XF-81

That is a model of true beauty. The camouflage scheme and the overall finish is superb. Absolutely stunning.

This particular Spitfire was well liked by Johnnie Johnson and became his personal aircraft and with which, he had considerable success in combat.

If I remember correctly, EN398 finished her flying days up here in the Northeast at RAF Ouston, where she was being used by No 80 OTU to train French fighter pilots. She was then flown down to High Ercal in early 1946 and placed in storage before being scrapped in 1949. A sad and ignominious end for such an historic aeroplane.
