Whats the best 1/48 Avenger?

Hobby Boss gives the folded wing option, Accurate Miniatures (also boxed as Italeri) does not.  Otherwise it is (surprisingly?) a bit of a toss-up, with each kit having some minor pros and cons.

Note: this is "the collective wisdom"- I have both kits, but haven't built either.

I have partially* built the AM version and I am slowly working on HB's TBF-1c. I prefer the HB for its extra refinement in certain areas, some of which would otherwise cost hard cash to improve. I'm fairly sure that the wheels are wrong because I bought the DEF Model set (also fits the AM kit) and they are smaller. Other than that, it has just had the basic Eduard set, a metal M2 barrel, and some detailing in the wing folds. Wing folds always seem to need detailing, which I find a little remiss. But all that combined will, if I can do it justice all the way, result in something very good. I hope...

*Lucky that it was very cheap.

The Accurate Miniatures Avenger IMHO. Re-boxed by Italeri a while back. The same combo is good for the Dauntless.

Although I have no personal experience (yet) this is the view I keep hearing too.

The old Monogram kit is excellent! ....Seriously,....I`d go for the Accurate Miniatures/Italeri kit every time,... it is beautiful to build and more accurate than the HB kit which is also covered in tiny rivet holes which look awful.

Cheers

I've held both kits and am building the HB kit which I am really enjoying and the wing fold feature is nice although needs some dressing to make it a bit more 'busy.' After looking at both I decided on HB. It also comes with alot of stores depending on what version you intend to model.
