1/72 Eduard Spitfire IXc "610. Squadron"

Recommended Posts

Dear fellow Britmodellers,

here's my 1/72 Eduard Spitfire IXc built from the 'Profi Pack'.

I chose markings for UF-Q, No. 601 Squadron, Royal Air Force, Fano, Italy, November 1944, as I wanted a change in color to my armada of green/grey Spitfires.

I painted with Alclad 'High Speed Silver', which does not resemble the quality of Alclad's Aluminium lacquers;

it left a rather grainy looking surface, and is reluctant to masking, as it easliy pulls off with Tamiya Tape (something that's never ever happened with Alclad lacquers before).

So, while it may not be my best model, I'm happy to have it finished!

Thanks for your interest.

Great looking Spitfire. Strange that the HSS is grainy, what primer did you use? I've had the 101 Aluminum pull up from the primer on my last NMF build, though I have know idea why.

I always basecoat with Tamiya TS14 Gloss Black, as I have done on previous builds using Alclad II Lacquers.

While working on this Spitfire, I also painted another model with Alclad, this time using their Aluminium tones;

I did not have any problems there, so I suppose it must have something to do with the High Speed Silver.

I guess they've just got something a bit wrong then, haven't used it myself so hard tell but it doesn't seem quite right from your pictures.

Hi My Friend Roman!!!

Congratulations for this one very different bird!!!

Have being watching the end result of your latest masterpiece building effort, and for me looks right. I liked a huge lot the end result of this build, really is a wonderful  paint scheme and can deserve a nice replica,  but to get that nice end result would be a practice journey. I liked a huge lot the weathering you have done there, and the nice touched of the camouflaged cowling and engine cover. I was looking another nice paint scheme similar to this one but on a Spitfire Mk XIV but seem this  is a fake one as have not get any other reference than the box  of  the old FROG kit now, if can remember, under a "new"  brand name ARK or something.

Thank you very much for sharing!!!

Cheers,

Luis Alfonso
