Many moons ago I was involved in training folks on repairing radars and radios and we had a device which was a plain black metal box, very mysterious looking. It had a large capacitor inside it and, if you were unwise enough to touch it while it was charged, you would get a very nasty surprise. It was amazing how many people just had to touch it even though they had no idea what it was. Very funny for observers. It actually was designed as a lesson in ' Don't touch what you don't know about' for people who were going to be working with very high voltages and dangerous electronics. I reckon that, if it had had a large red button on it it would have been even more effective. I am guessing that, nowadays, we would all have had our heads in our hands to play with for pulling this kind of stunt but at the time it was a very effective lesson.
