VG 33
Hello I am joining this Group Build with this training aircraft which is the Boulton Paul Balliol. As I have been seduced by the box art of this recent kit made by Special Hobby, here she is in civilian guise. This airplane was used as a demonstrator. First I started to make the cockpit with the metal and injected parts from the box. The instrument panel was made of a picture behind the metal part Next I painted the cockpit with mainly a very dark grey I glued the cockpit in the starboard fuselage half To be continued... VG 33
Hello I've made some progress on this trainer. The wings and fuselage are asssembled and I have prepared the canopy. The radiator is a perfect fit in the fuselage and I have rounded the corners to match inside the extra cowling. To be continued... VG 33
Hello I am near the end on this project. The aircraft is ready to paint : First the edges in white and the walking areas in matt black : Next the dark red up to the back of the cockpit because the canopy will extend over this area in red : The canopy with a black layer to simulate the inside color : And finaly overall in red with the outside of the undercarriage doors from the metal fret : Cheers. Rick Brown
I love the Balliol Pat. My Father-in-Law worked on the project and I fell in love with the ugliness of it years ago! Can't wait to see it finished. BTW, how well did the canopy fit? I've heard some horror stories about it when the kit was first launched. The very one I have! Rick. That is why a picture from above is better. I should sand more for the next Balliol one day. Patrick

VG 33
Hi Just before the end tomorrow and the gap between the canopy and the fuselage. For the next one I will sand inside with an angle to get a flusher joint. Patrick 2
