ProfSparks
Hi All This is the first kit from the Airfix 1/72 "100 years Of Naval Aviation Collection" A50105. Flown by Squadron Commander Edwin Harris Dunning, this Sopwith Pup was the first aircraft to be landed on a moving ship on 2nd August 1917. It's built mostly straight from the box, but with a tripod mounted Lewis firing through a slot in the upper wing, rigging with fishing line, and some detailing to the cockpit and landing gear. Sprayed with the included acrylics, except the wood that was brush painted over with some old gloss clear orange I had. WIP here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235023949-airfix-100-years-of-naval-aviation-collection/& Comments and suggestions welcome Cheers Steve Edited April 16, 2018 by ProfSparks

bhouse
That looks very good indeed. I am seriously impressed with the rigging - I don't think I'd attempt anything that small.

Darby
What a lovely job on a golden oldie. And a RNAS bird to boot makes it even better.

jean
Hi Steve, this Pup must be ever so tiny! How many tame spiders did you use for the rigging? No human fingers could have gone in such narrow gaps, not mine for sure! And what size fishing line did you use? It must be for Guppy fishing... Congrats on a sterling job. Brandy
That's turned out really nicely, especially considering it's the Airfix kit! You should be proud of that one! Ian

Bristow95
Watching this closely as I had this set in my previous modelling stint and, although the kits weren't the best, I really liked them. You've certainly done a good job from the airfix kit here. 👍
pheonix
That is an old bird made into something very different and very presentable. P
