The Spadgent
Early start on Sunday morning with Zero. One positive boon of having to be in the kitchen with a puppy is I get to re-path the builds on my daughters PC that were lost to the CrAzY PB Nightmare. The good news is that they are all now complete and up to date. Having spent so many hours with the hound earned me some man cave points on a rainy Sunday afternoon. So let's begin. The other bulk head in the cockpit looked super sparse. so I couldn't resist adding some stolen parts from old kits and some scratch work too. The box of tricks that I wanted to go above the door needed cutting down so Dexter to the rescue. That's better. then I turned my attention to the front wheel well as the back of this will form one of the pit walk ways. nicely placed pin marks. Sorted with some Plasto and sanding action. I added some runner detail with plasticard. then cut and sanded to shape. I added some smaller scale scribed grips to the main pit floor. Seats added, some surface wall and door details then a bit of a dry fit. A blast of primer to check details and all s looking good to me. so the rest of the internals got a blast of primer. and a pre shade. All that got left to dry while I read up on choosing a Tamiya mix for chromate green. XF5 XF3 at a ratio of 2:1 seemed a good choice so mix I did and this happened. Im really happy I added the extra bits and bobs. next I'll be adding some of the other colours by brush before a gloss coat and weathering/ chipping etc. hopefully Wednesday will see the internals come together. Hope you like the progress. Thanks for dropping by. Good luck on all your floaty goodness GB chums. take care y'all. Johnny.

The newest member of the family. I might be busy this weekend. Sorry for the delay in replying, been 'en France'. Flory sanding sticks? I have those and I like them too, a lot, especially the skinny ones. The 'how to' video on the Flory website also taught me how to use them properly, like NOT pressing hard. Like files and saws I always thought you had to use pressure to get them to work; now I know they work better if you 'let the tool do the work'. Just goes to show you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Talking of dogs, Zero looks soooo cute! I make no apologies for re-posting that image. I bet he'll make the most of that and soon be leading your pack. Our Molly certainly does: Molly by Ced Bufton, on Flickr Oh, and the model is coming along really well too - I really admire 'your eye' on pre-shading and washes... you always get an impressive result. I really MUST try harder!

CedB
Thanks Johnny The video was very useful for me and the 'sanding seams' bit has made that bit of modelling easier for me. Not nice, just easier. France was great thanks except the whatever-it-was that's caused my current malady. Fast food and French cafes just don't mix I guess! 1

CedB
Thanks Keith Still working through my 'followed' threads, while watching the Apple launch. I now have iPhone X lust. I didn't buy the 7 so I've been a good boy. Just sayin'. Still have 394 notifications... oh good grief.

The Spadgent
It's been a week and a half. busy on all fronts apart from the Cat. We have had a lot of crappy weather that usually means plastic, alas this is the only photo that got taken in the cave. There have been a few dribs and drabs that I thought might get added to this weekend but again life has got in the way. I'll share what I have so as I think things are going to start coming together soon. The little bits got dotted with paint, I'll add the belts before weathering. these then got a good gloss coat. The wings are next. I was going to do her floats down but for once I'm feeling lazy and she might look odd as I'm doing her wheels out to have them down. So more glue. the fit is really good compared to what I've been used to of late. The position holes got drilled. Beware as the instructions seem to be back to front here. the cowl holes are I hope back to front in the instructions. Then they got glued and everything got a hoot sand. mmmm pegs. i was planing on a weather wash but I'd forgotten that the inside walls will need a rudimentary wash with paint too. so a prime and a pre shade. I'd got marks on the rear of the wells where the tac had been. This won't be seen but there are small windows that will see big old blobs such as this. So more chromate green got mixed and sprayed. Im happy with that. No where near the wonderful work that @TheBaron is doing on his interior but this bird is all about the outsides. (That's my excuse anyhow.) I'll gloss that in a bit and hopefully get a wash on later on. I've been making compote and fixing stiff windows this morning so maybe that'll get me some plastic time later. until then. Good luck with your builds and Happy Modelling. John and Zero. Edited September 17, 2017 by The Spadgent

CedB
Nice work Johnny I like the variation in the internals and I'm doing the same now; IMHO looks better than 'factory fresh' and then having to wash.

The Spadgent
Zero had to have his second set of jabs so I got a Crafty hour at the bench tonight. here's the Apple goods from yesterday. We finished a half pot with dinner but I managed to get these canned. I can't believe so many apple gets so few pots. Any hoo enough of this madness where's the cat at? Here is an airbrushed Flory wash yesterday. (Dark dirt) And here's the result after wiping off and a Dry brush highlight pass with Tamiya weathering pigments. im happy with the look of that. I glued on the little steering wheel hobbies too. Next up was to add some belts that I had lying around in the scraps box. Here's a dry fit of the bits and bobs. right so all the internals need putting in place. Wheel wells. nice fit. While they dried I sanded the center wing pod. you can just see the onlooking crowd in the background. The Stearman two and the mammoth Messerschmitt man. more glueing and clamping. The rear gunnars bay. and the cockpit. I'm going to let all that cure before I make my next move. The front gunners canopy needs attention before the fuselage zips up so I can see that coming up next. Hope you're all having floaty fun in the GB and if not, why not. Take care and have a grand week y'hear. Happy Modelling. Johnny sneaky time. Edited September 18, 2017 by The Spadgent
