Hello Giorgio,

I really enjoyed the WiP and the RFI is giving it justice !

Veeeery nice Macchi here, what left to say, just wonderfull

Bellissima ragazza,

In fact in italy, did the Aircraft and boat are consdered as female gender too ??

Whatever, you did great !

Congratulations.

:partytime:

Sincerely.

Corsaircorp

Thanks CC!

Funny you should mention about the gender  - that is one thing that, as a non native English speaker, I'll never get used to: in Italian, boats are female but aircraft are actually male!! :frantic:

Awesome model from one of the most elegant and unique propeller driven fighter planes.

Hey Bernd, good to hera from you! Thanks a lot, glad you like her

As I mentioned earlier, there still was a missing bit, that I forgot to add in the end: the C202 had an additional external gunsight. Here you go

Now I can actually call it completed!

An absolutely stunning rendition of Macchi's beautiful fighter.  All the extra work you've put in has really paid off.  The camouflage is expertly applied and your home-made masks for the fasci are incredible.  Can you tell me why some 96 Squadriglia aircraft had the 97 Squadriglia emblem on the fin?

As for your question, if you refer to this emblem

gamba.jpg

this was associated to the 9° Gruppo (9th Group), which both 96esima and 97esima squadriglia belonged to, during WWII. As to not always being applied and in which position when it was, that is some kind of mess that I don't think there is a way to clarify

Italian WWII aircraft markings and camouflage seems to be one of the craziest things for a modeller to approach ... :frantic:

Thanks for the info.  My mistake as I thought this was a Squadriglia badge rather than a Gruppo.

Wow!

Lovely 1/48 build and finish on a great subject.

The camo looks like a challenge but the result you have achieved is superb.

So impressed with some of the final markings you did yourself too.

Always enjoy your contributions and generosity.

Cheers

No problem :) As I said, it is a very confusing matter.

It really is a beauty Giorgio; Bravo; one of my favourites for this year :worthy:

With the very first two photos in the RFI, you could have some fun with Photoshop.

Convert the photograph of the model to black and white. Crop the blue background, paste the black and white model over the real aircraft in the original photo; I think it will look the same as the real thing :D

Now I’ll catch up with the 205 on the excellent WIP thread.

Best regards

TonyT

Stunning build, and a beautiful aircraft - more beautiful than the Spirtfire I think... though that might not go down well!

Amazing finish and mottling camo.

Wow, brave statement on a British forum :D  :D  Thanks for the comment, Bruce

I like Spitfires too, for the records - just a different kind of girl, still fascinating
