giemme
Hi everybody; second completed kit for the year, a Macchi C202 Folgore, built to represent this aircraft KIT: Hasegawa 1:48 Macchi C202 FOLGORE "Cavallino Rampante" AIRFRAME: AerMacchi built Macchi C202 Folgore Serie III, 96sima squadriglia, 9° gruppo, 4° stormo MARKINGS: the wing insignia ("fasci alari"), tail crosses and code numbers were airbrushed using self produced masks; the Savoia emblems inside the tail crosses were cut out from the kit decals, the rest of decals are from the kit PAINTS: mainly Lifecolor acrylics (including the dedicated set for Italian WWII fighters), airbrushed, with the addition of Model Master Metallizer Titan for the exhausts and Tamiya acrylics for the white bands and crosses, the codes and the grey non-camouflaged areas WEATHERING: mostly with tempera washes, various hues Aftermarkets: - SBS resin cockpit set - EDUARD BRASSIN exhaust stacks Scratchbuilding: - Early style antenna mast, using a steel rod - Supercharger intake butterfly valve, using plastic card - Main U/C bay piping/cabling, using various tin and copper wires and some plastic leftovers - Pitot tube, using a prescription needle and steel rod - The tail plane fairings were removed from the fuselage and I molded a milliput copy to be applied directly onto the kit tail planes, because on the real aircraft they had variable incidence, so there's a gap between the fairings and the fuselage - Main wheels brake lines, using various tin and copper wires - Wing navigation lights, from clear plastic and a few other minor things. This model is part of a double build, which involved also a C205 Veltro (still to be completed), again from Hasegawa; here's the WIP thread, in case you're interested Many thanks to everybody who followed and participated into the WIP thread, for all the tips and insights, the help and continuous support and encouragement. Ain't BM a great place? On with the pics Exhaust detail Undercarriage detail Supercharger intake butterfly valve Tail planes with variable incidence; if you squint, you should see the two small red arrows, on the fuselage and on the tailplane fairing, used to check the alignment U/C bay scratchbuilt details Some interior details A few shots of the cockpit and IP while in progress Hope you enjoy it, any comments welcome Ciao Edited September 1, 2017 by giemme 47

Pete Thanks Pete, that's a huge compliment However, as you can notice from the first two pics, I didn't really nail that kind of camouflage, if not in some restricted areas. That's mostly because I need to improve my ability with the airbrush. 13 hours ago, Corsairfoxfouruncle said: Giemme .... EXCELLENT BUILD !!!! 👍👍👍 I've followed the builds from the Beginning.
