John Darlington
Could someone please explain to me the difference between winglets and sharklets? Thanks.
Gazontipede
AFAIK there is no practical difference. I believe the term 'sharklet' was coined by Airbus as a marketing gimmick based on the shape of some of their early experimental designs. Shar2
Just different solutions to the same problem. Preventing the vortices from the wing tip rolling over to disturb the lift and increase drag. They cause said vortices to stream off the winglet/shark fin.
