Welcome back,

Closing in on the finish. Trolley has been masked for rust and chipping fluid followed by overcoat then some weathering. Gloss coat to seal all the paint on the build then a few decals followed by a panel wash and matte topcoat. Pitot to be added from micro tubing and the antenna mast with an Ezi line aerial. Not much more dirt to be added, just tying it all together:

The fuel line added to the underside. The join between the main float and fuselage had a dab of PPP to conceal the join and then a coat of Ame-iro:

Fuselage MG ports drilled to accept Master Barrel 7.7mm guns to the correct depth:

AKI Extreme Metal Aluminium overall for the prop, which will be masked and have GSI Propeller Colour applied to the rear faces of the blades:

All being well, I should get across the line sometime on Sunday afternoon.

Thanks Jaime,

I have reassessed the MG issue. There is so little of the barrel visible once it installed that it would be a waste of a Master Barrel set. I am leaning towards the kit pieces bit hollowing out the ends.

Forging onward as the clock ticks down. I have applied AKI gloss varnish and this has tied the colours in a bit more. Next are decals and a departure from my preferred wash (Promodeller/Flory) as I am going to give the newish AKI enamel panel liners a run:

The Mr Colour 131 “Propellor Colour” has been applied to the rear faces of the prop blades after some masking. I also sprayed a bit over the trolley as a sort of mish mash undercoat (I had a bit left over in truth):

I agree the gloss coat made the colours blend together really well and shows the great paint job you've done!

Not far from finished now, is it? :)

Cheers

And it’s done. Not an infamous “all nighter” but up early to finish before the 10:59hrs (23:59GMT) deadline on Britmodeller GB. The starboard MG decided to leap inside to be lost forever. Luckily the A6M2 is a kit I have a couple in reserve and a replacement was sourced in some of the later photos. I over thinned the AKI Ultra Matte and got a satin finish. With more time I may have gone back but it is what it is. Ezi line antenna:

I will get some better shots with the real camera for the gallery shortly. Many thanks to all that came along for the ride and encouraged me. Thanks to Jaime and Enzo for the GB topic and the BM population at large for contributing.

Many thanks.

You may recall I thought on of the MG had fallen inside and been lost forever? As I was shooting the final picture of the underside and flipped the build on its back, what should emerge but the errant MG Barrel!

Here are are a couple of shots that I had to cull:
