1/72 F-105D Thunderchief "Hanoi Special"

Recommended Posts

Getting back into the hobby after a very long time away, I recently finished my second build -- see WIP here:

Trumpeter's 1/72 F-105D with a bunch of aftermarket. I took special care with this build, adding a lot of detail along the way. On to the pics!

This weekend I entered my Thud in a local model contest and, lo and behold, I placed first in my category! Yippie!

I already have my next project started. It's going to be a fast build just to get my modeling mojo flowing again. Stay tuned!

Sincere thanks to everyone for the kind words! I've been reading the many great posts on this site for a couple of years. I've learned so much from you guys and everything I was able to accomplish with my Thud build is the result of what I've found here. Most important is the friendly attitude and encouragement I've seen given to every member, no matter what their experience level.

Hello Bill,

It is good you mentioned 1/72, I would have thought 1/48.

Job well done. Nice airbase diorama setting.

Hi Bill,

You've done some great work there on a machine that I dearly love! One point, though. You've lowered the flaps etc but also the lower petal of the afterburner always dropped when sat on the ramp.

 Martin,

I've seen pics both ways, usually the lower petal is dropped but not always. I choose to keep mine up just for aesthetic reasons.

;)... you may be correct but i checked back my photos - I've been around a few in my time - and found every parked cold Thud to have the lower lip dropped. Nevertheless it doesnt detract from your great build :).
