BMW535is Posted August 31, 2017 Share Posted August 31, 2017 This is a really wonderful build and has special importance for me. My Dad served on the Independence (Aviation Ordnanceman) during this time frame and, in fact, was a plank owner. He was twice wounded and sent back to San Francisco for rehabilitation but returned to the ship and ended the war as a crew member. I grew up watching "Victory at Sea" with my Dad and he would, once and awhile, share some stories but not much. He loved the ship and the USN and, after he died at age 70, his ashes were buried at sea from an aircraft carrier. Thanks for doing a great job on this kit, Jean.
