Sgt Ray Holmes flying Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 from 504 Sqn rams Dornier Do 17z F1+FH from KG 76 in a last ditch attempt to bring the bomber down before it can make what he believes is a bombing run on Buckingham Palace.

Both kits are 1/48 scale, the Hurricane being Airfix, while the Do 17 in ICM.

Thanks for looking.

That's an impressive diorama. I really like the composition and the details you've incorporated into it. The models are also very-well finished with nice weathering effects.

How did you get the props spinning? Multiple hair-dryers? Your kids all blowing at the set simultaneously??

Regards,

David

It never ceases to amaze me how some modellers can create a new method/technique for displaying their models.

This one is ACE.

A blue sky back-drop and you could image the horrid crack as the Hurricane struck the Dornier.

Modelling at its best.

Well done

Thanks you all for the kind comments, really appreciated.

Dazey, the blurred prop effect is simply using the `blemish` tool on Photobucket to blur the prop in the photo. No hairdryer required. :D

It's a very impressive result and I'm glad you explained the props blurring effect, although I'm right cheesed off I never bothered to get into Photoshop. My only thought on the extra-realism angle is that the crew had all bailed out before Ray Holmes chopped the tail off the Dornier so a few missing escape panels would perhaps have fitted the bill. Picky picky, I know but irrespective of all that, I think you've done a fantastic job with all the weathering of the Hurri and the damage to the Flying Pencil. Congrats well deserved.
