Bristol Bloodhound Mk I - Airfix 1/72

@ djparkins :

What do you  think about a generic set for all these little old ones like window frames, grills, hatches, windshield wipers, dials, spoked wheels etc, when you have not produced that for them? Would it be worth it for you ? Could you profit from that? You have the machines to produce them. The unhappy stranded modellers here would very appreciate that, I guess. Just a thought. Cheers

Flippin' 'eck Tucker. Only went away for the weekend and here you are whacking through another.

Whacko old top!

Bloodhound theft was a real problem back in the day. You can see a local cricket team giving chase during a typical such blag here:

Before replies, have a look at this post that solves the Photobucket image block - I've changed to Firefox and it works! Now I'll be able to see all those great builds, amazing!

Thanks Giorgio, very kind, as usual :)

Thanks Benedikt :) The trailer is a bit, er, rough. I'll need some mojo to clean it up :(

Thanks Martian - soft old Airfix plastic and old moulds... taxing my patience a bit, ho hum :)

Thanks Roger, very kind :)

Thanks Bill, too kind :)

Thanks Junglie - my memories of camps are, er, cold and damp and full of pointless exercises. Should have taken it more seriously I guess!

Thanks Tony - great photo :)

Thanks chaps for your kind words - it's encouraged me to spend more time on the trailer.

Thank you for that :)...good news for everone using Firefox (and Chrome?) - until BotoPhucket work out how to block them. I detect an arms race developing :fight:.

That Wessex that @John_W posted looks very woebegone and down in the dumps :(.

Can I spray Humbrol acrylic? Worth a try?

I used Humbrol acrylics on all three of my Jaguars Ced

I think (I'm old so I'm not sure) I used a little Tamiya thinners but having recently used only water too its less critical than I thought

I did use Humbrol Clear to shine them up for the transfers and finished off with Tamiya Flat Varnish in acrylic

Beware Tamiya also do their aerosols with a 'hot'  base for painting films for flying models I suspect

Always look for acrylic to flatten the finish

Humbrol do a matt aerosol too

I hate it, its ruined the finish on too many of my models

By the way

Don't use Humbrol matt varnish

Did I make a point there?

I mean it

When I did my HC2 Wessex it made the undersides go browny grey went similar on the Scout at first too

Its vile stuff

I don't like it

At all...

😬

Hi Ced,

Great progress and interesting dissertations along the way, as usual :)

The missil looks very good. I'm sure will turn up with great results for the other elements of the set!

Cheers

Thanks Andre - great clip! :D

Thanks Bill - good news that Humbrol acrylic can be sprayed, thinned. I'll try Cookie's thinner and see how we get on :)

Thanks Jaime, very kind :)

Thanks Junglie and Bill - poor Wessex :(

Figure painting mojo and steady hands have to be taken advantage of.

Stop dancing by Ced Bufton, on Flickr

They are dancing aren't they? Move two of the Chartered Accountant! I think the boss is trying to stop them?

Dog's collar has been touched up after that shot. That cotton is his lead rope:

Their bases will obviously get painted when they're on the base board.

Hello CeD,

Nice idea, I had the box when I was a kid

But as it is used to shoot aircrafts down, did'nt want to build it.

I exchanged it for a Typhoon or thing like that.

May I take a seat. Will read the 3 page ahaed of me.

Sincerely

Corsaircorp

Thanks Johnny :) I'm using Flickr now too but at least the fix lets us see posts from others.

Thanks CC - welcome!

Thanks TT - glad you like them :)

Pondering the RAF Blue Grey a bit, I was thinking that thinned H96 over the grey primer would be OK. Then I thought I ought to do something different for the soft top so I brushed on some Khaki as a base:

Damn ejector mark, quickly dealt with using Nigel inspired fibreglass pen:

Actually I'm quite liking that... should I leave it alone or overspray with RAF Blue? What do we think?
