Locals been nicking the stones again huh?  ;)

When I were a lad, at Christmastime we were all given a 'part' to play in the nativity play in junior school

I had to be a Herald and my 'part' usually consisted of declaiming loud and 'orrid in Brummyish of course, because, "And lo it came to pass that Joseph a Carpenter took his wife Mary to Bethlehem to register... blah blah"

Henceforth it has been ingrained in me that Lo! is a suitable beginning, for a beginning

or a proper carry on

Possibly also for a proper carry oot, wi a couple of big fish suppers too

And lo, I'm opening a can for 'tis the time of the census can opening and Bill thirsts

With the assistance of a wee can of fizz I got a bit more of Gannet2s innards glued together

In the process of setting out the destructions for ready reference I took a closer look

P1140132.jpg

Some might notice the right hand panel on the centre section names the section being worked on

I didn't notice but there (or LO!) is a reference to the driver's mate's postition

Nuff said!

You get stupid little levers for any odd shaped in-cabin protrusions to stick in :(

Lookit this

P1140133.jpg

Would you believe throttle and some other (Prop pitch?) levers too?

Barmy but...

P1140136.jpg

The radar op's position is now completed, there's even a small control box in there with a curved loop of cables leading to another panel

and the main part of the i.p. is in place, there's a second panel to insert with the main blind flying type panel to add over the top, later

night all

That must have been a Triumph for you!

Lovely bit of metal work there.  Must admit I find PE to be other worldly - and thus to be avoided!

I chuck 'em, you 'it 'em

😁

Me too with the etch but I bought it in hope, as I returned to the hobby

Bee's knees I expected

Didn't take long to realise this was another art form completely

Just thought as I have it, its never too late to learn/give it a go

Well see how good it is after its painted up

Much of it looks like the pictures of the interiors in my 4+ book so it could be good

Later on I'm painting it, I have a re-appointed med scan now

😮

Or I've cut off too much plastic.    😬

There's a garage based bottleneck at present which means I can't move the Midget to get at the compressor but I hope to get in and paint the etchy stuff this week, Monday or Tuesday

sheesh... I disappear for a week, come back, and Bill is singing the praises of PE and using cyanogoo without paragraphs of profanity.

Did we fly through a worm hole on the way back and I'm now in some alternate universe ?

Serves you right for enjoying yourself, how're things going?

I am restraining myself from singing paeans of high  praise  but the Roket Max stuff isnt very fumey and gives me the odd moment or two to readjust the fit of things

Still isnt like real proper glue though

What was that stuff in purple and black little tubes we always had in the home in the sixties funny sounding name not unlike but NOT uhu>

Doh I will be worrying this one around in my head all day now :(

Doesn't sound like Uhu, but wasn't Bostik in purple & black tubes?

nah even a pointy stick can't shift this little feller

rear brake cylinder came loose on the backplate and subsequent rotational wear wrecked the cylinder and seals

I changed that side and managed to get the stupid E clip to catch on the cylinder but the opposite side has  refused all efforts to make the catch work hence the car is parked on jack stands and immobile

Tomorrow should see me getting a new 5/8" circlip  and bendy washer on the job and the car out of the way at last

Not Bostik either

This stuff had a bit of a fishy stink about it, it was beigeygrey colour  and came with a pin in the tip (might have been a small screw eye for a stopper)

Good enough on paper and cardboard but useless as you'd expect on Airfix models

:(

Wish I could remember but as I haven't seen any since 1966 it isn't a huge surprise

Hmm thinking about it further wasnt it Bostik that had the screw eye stopper?

Didn't Copydex rubber glue smell fishy - & it was only of any use on paper? But didn't it come in red tins/tubes?

Ah, Copydex!

That takes me back to my days at the Watford School of Art and yes it did smell fishy but only for the first sniff after which it was fine but children, please don't try this at home ;)

I think this stuff was called MEND-IT but it's not as if it matters

There's real stuff that sticks stuff nowadays

Same train of thought, there used to be a white paste that was supposed  to stick broken crockery together

That wasnt hugely successful either                        :)

Copydex was red and white packaging

I probably still have some of that in the garage  :)

Yeh, it's amazing what can be found in the deep, dark recesses of those places! Found a brand new Escort Mexico brake master cylinder in a drawer in ours a year or so back - probably get a few bob for it on flea bay, but keeping it in case I win the lottery & can afford a real Mex again, one day....!! :D

Have to be top prize to afford a Mexico Keith, hard to remember when Escorts were an embarrassment to the local scrappies isn't it...

Well that was a weekend and a half  :(

We drove over to Sandiacre on Friday to deliver a birthday gift to our daughter in law, well that was plan A

As we reached the A42 exit before the M1 junction, in a queue that I should have remembered was there, its going to last until December

Next year

As I said, we were slowly making our way to the slip road when suddenly the exhaust went ever so sporty, wow the racket

The exhaust manifold cracked off the down pipe and began sounding like artillery fire  As I was a bit/quite scared of a real fire I pulled off the A42 onto the Service area slip road and got the car noisily onto the car park

Called the AA for service and my son to collect the present, then got recovered home with a fault the AA guy couldnt deal with

Then had to get the car to the local garage on Monday because I couldnt deal with it either, on Saturday

Then refitted a heat shield to avoid all the errant heat just underneath plastic power steering pipes yesterday

And still haven't fixed the Midget

All fun isn't it  :)

But I have had some time after present wrapping (Christmas this time) so I  have been able to use a pair of F4 Phantom gun pack pods to produce a baggage pod that I will be casting from

But the pod looks a tad wrong, does any of you have dimensions of the real thing I can crib from

Here's where I am at now, bear in mind when looking that the upper section is to be a truncated cone off the upper third of radius and I haven't done that bit yet, I need the overall length if its available

help

P1140143.jpg

Here is my overexposed to compensate for lack of detail flash image to assess what you see with

P1140142.jpg

I do have fuel tanks mouldings that were used on the AEW3 but they are too long and tapered far too much

help?

"Christmas comes but once a year..."

Good job too, I say, but I digress dear reader

Amid the chaos I have been doing some of the littler jobs, still no Midget fixée, one of which has been the tanky carrier pods

I showed the first shaping of the pod on Wednesday, here's the first shapings of the Universal Wing carriers, (4+ book reference title) under weigh

(Nautical see)

P1140144.jpg

Outline sketched from the 4+ plan

P1140147.jpg

Here cut out ready for shaping, this is 0.080" plasticard

The conical shape is a resin cast from the Frog propeller spinners, not a very successful effort, yet

The green blob however was once a blob of malleable Milliput that got left to harden un-wanted though it were

I like to mould unused Milli and leave it ready for dashing into action if necessary, this bit was left over from one of my Wessex builds, back in the day

See it later

P1140151.jpg

Now!

This is not going to be the spinner I need but it will form the basis of a casting mould later on when I get into the workspace that I carelessly left jammed up with MG bits all over it

P1140152.jpg

This grim little picture shows the newly shaped universal wing carriers, each marked with its intended wing

Although the shapes are 'the same' in appearance each one fits at an angle to the wing surface because of the gull wing anhedral so the port one only lies perpendicular if it sits under the port wing, under the starboard wing it would hang underneath the wheel well

It wouldnt be a good idea to have the landing Gannet's undercarriage knock off the pod with the crew's post inside would it? :(

And  the pod has had a coat of filler that will smooth down and give the correct taller shape at the mounting surface

I may strip all this off if I can find my tube of Humbrol filler, this is too soft Vallejo filler but its all I can lay me hands on at the mo'

P1140155.jpg

It'll wash off if I need to

;)

OK slightly poor, reduced content Christmas eve eve eve issue finis

You're progressing quite well indeed!!!

And these days you can only carry out quick jobs, as you're often "offered" last minute jobs, thus you must be doing something you can leave at any time!!!

I know you aren't folding the wings, but have you considered the extended flaps' option ?

On my Gannet I gave it a thought, but  finally opted for the parking pose as any other scenario woud have implied rotating propellers and... I've got it in mind for a Wyvern project on stand by and that's enough!!!

Anyway...well done !:thumbsup::clap2:

I wonder if you have ever looked at a Frog Gannet Massimo, I have enough to do just putting wheels on them!

Flaps down is a wingy job too far

But that leaves us with the tantalising possibilities, "What will Massimo give us when we get the flying Wyvern? With folded wings?"

😱
