Cockpit screen the two top parts above the pilots head looking up into the sky.

The Merlins have these two windows tinted in Afghanistan.

Any one know if the RAF Chinook in Afghanistan had their windows tinted ?

If so what colour ie blue or grey ?

After looking at some of the pictures in Simmerit's epic 1/35th scale Chinook build I would suggest that they were clear.

Having worked on Chinooks although not in Afghanistan, but in Iraq I know that there was no tint on the eyebrow windows.

Thanks for your replies Jabba and Richard. Agree after looking at numerous photos, although difficult to tell with some, on some

you can see into the cockpit. The Italeri instructions, for an RAF HC1, show them to be tinted. Suspect the instructions are the basic

ones for the USA type. Just shows how careful you have you be if you try as get as close to authentic as possible.

As far as I am aware and I did work on Chinooks for 12 year the RAF ones have never had a tint on these windows. As for other countries I am not so sure., although looking through a book that I have I don't think that the US Army did either. I think that it is just the way that the light hits these windows and the main screens that makes it look as if they are tinted.
