VG 33
Hello As my Northrop Deltas are nearing completion I would like to start the 1/72 Northrop Gamma 2E in Chinese guise from the same brand, Azur FRROM. I am dubbious about the colour inside the cockpit as the instruction sheet says "Interior Green". In 1935 it is a little early I think. So if there is somebody here with an idea of the possible colour I would be delighted. Patrick
Old Man
I would probably go with aluminum, an aluminum lacquer finish was most common for U.S. aircraft at this time. Looking forward to getting one of these myself. Availability for Azur-Frrom is pretty spotty here in the U.S.
JWM
The developed from Gamma later model - A17 had in old photos alu inside: Though in preserved in musem mashine it is green In mine Gamma 2e I went to alu Regards J-W 1
MilneBay
I also go with aluminium lacquer which was the standard interior finish at the time.
VG 33
Thank you for your advice. I hesitated between light grey and aluminium when looking to a picture of a Chinese Gamma without the engine in a hangar. Patrick. A bit oxidized aluminium is difficult to distingush from light grey paint... Cheers J-W
Dana Bell
Hi Patrick, Sorry that I didn't notice your question until this morning. Northrop had an exemption on interior colors - the company used a candy apple green mixed from zinc chromate primer and aluminum powder. It was MUCH brighter than Yellow Green (which added black) or Interior Green (which also added black, but left out the aluminum powder). Hope this note isn't too late... Thank you very much as this is not too late. Actually my second Delta is not finished and my Gamma is waiting. I have an old green zinc chromate from Testor which could be right (No1734).
