The spitfire looks great. Pitty about the scribing after filler. That always happens to me too, I’ve found if you scribe really lightly, do you have a Tamiya scriber? If not I can highly recommend them. Any way really light passes using dymo tape is the best way I’ve found. Or as you say not as all for a really smooth finish. Great save by the way. Looking forward to paint kid.

Johnny

Thank you Johnny, yes I do have and use a Tamiya scriber but the filler was slightly brittle and flaky , also I use Dymo tape as well.

Alright, no scribing then :D Looking forward to proper paint

Ciao

Sorry Giemme, but enough was enough with those bays.

On with the paint.

BG 1

BG 2

BG 3

MR Hobby Aqueous H334 Barley Gray first coat.

A nice semi gloss finish I think.

I am busy for the rest of the day so will try over weekend to get some more done.

Slump, looks like you did all the right stuff.

Never mind it all worked out in the end.

nice finish on that paintwork. :penguin:

Jont

As Giemme said , "talc and C/A is a good mix for scribing over.

The paintwork is getting there.

see below.

OK folks Barley Gray PT 2.

BG 4

Already for spraying.

BG 5

BG 6

The drop tanks and pylons rubbed down with 6000 M.M. the Typhoon got the same.

Drilled a 0.5 mm hole in each droptank/pylon and glued a bit of plastic rod in as a holding pin while spraying.

That`s if for now.

Hopefully will spray them all tomorrow (Sat).

OK, so I did not chill out.

Instead I tackled the Spitfire.

Main U/C added.

FF 1

Tail wheel added, a p.i.t.a., really needed to sand down the locating peg.

FF 2

Exhausts added too.

FF 3

Leave to set, then a clean up before a satin varnish.

Now time to chill.

I really, really love that Barley Grey tint on your Typhoon  It looks smooth without looking like plastic, if you know what I mean.

Great job on the little Spitty too

Cheers Giemme, the Barley Gray looks good.

As for the Spitfire well...

FF 4

FF 5

FF 6

FF 7

As you can see some spray bloom but in real view it`s not that bad.

But the canopy ....

FF 9

Disaster, numb nuts here did not mask some holes on the underside and spray residue pooled in the canopy..

And here is the underside .

FF 8

Oh well, just the prop to finish off tonight some when.

Both are looking really smart Simon and you'll soon touch up those bits on the bottom (fnaar!) :)

I bet you could carefully prise that canopy off and clean it up, if you can be bothered... doesn't look that bad?

Cheers Ced, the canopy is staying on before I go and launch it across the room LOL.

It was totally my fault, should of block the holes up on the underside.

They are for the stand..

Anyhow, this morning I got on with the missiles.

M 1

White tips and dark grey fins so far.

Just a touch of black for the motor nozzles and the advanced aams a silver tip.

A I 2

A I 1

A dab of black at the back, then a splash of BG .

A I 4

A run of glue to fix.

A I 5

Filler needed here.

And a view from the front.

A I 6

I knew that it was going to be a pita but it`s done for now.

This kit is quite fighting you, but I like your approach

A bit more of patience and those intakes are going to be sorted

So, is spag bol a slang for spaghetti bolognese? :D

Rather than trying to scribe those pesky doors (I know you've given up on the idea) how about just drawing them on with a pencil?

That is not a bad idea sir.

Thanks Johnny, Benedikt, Giemme and Big Dave.

Yet more sanding left me with this.

A I 16

A I 17

A I 18

And now for something a bit ugly...

Ughhhh

The Port one OK the Starboard one.... one of Airfix`s best!!!!!

As for the fit?

So so, the Starboard one is poor, the Port one OK.

I may be able to sort the Starboard one out but worried about the "fine engraving on it" .LOL

PS Benedikt, I saw that clip before , made I laugh.

Well that exhaust..

A quick file sand and attack with a razor saw, plus a quick file I got to this.

Uggggh 1

Not brilliant but better than it was . ( Sorry for the blurred pic).

Will give that a coat of primer soon and see hoe it looks then
