77th anniversary of Adlertag today

It's no longer the 13th for me here in The antipodes.

Nevertheless, it is for those in the countries in the skies of which this military operation took place.

The operation in question was 'Adlertag', "Eagle Day". The intended destruction of the  British Royal Air Force by the Luftwaffe.

I wondered if this day has been remembered by e.g. U.K. or German media?

If you have any links to articles written today about this, or any views on the history and legacy of Adlertag, please share them.

To me, the outcome was one of Britains finest moments, yet an outcome quite influenced by German communication blunders. There are many other fascinating factors involved.

A good day to remember The Few.

:poppy:

Best regards

TonyT

To me today represents the start of a pivotal episode in European / World history, with an unthinkable outcome if things had gone the other way.

Suffice to say "we are all on the same side" now and better for it. As regards the UK press - all those low-lives are interested in is bingo and the

size of Kim Kardsian's a**e. I can't even remember the last time I read a newspaper.

It's a shame that the newspapers self perpetuate the 'celebrity' stuff.

A little searching reveals that at least 'World of Warplanes' have remembered:

Some historical information from the RAF museum;

I would imagine that we will see more recognition of the day on the 80th anniversary.

Best regards

Thanks Tony & others for the timely reminder, a date worth remembering, even more so a month tomorrow.

Steve.
