I'm a bit slow sometimes.......

Now that looks sufficiently "right" to be the real thing - presumably the tail booms would contain NOTAR style ducts to compensate for the lack of a tail rotor.

To answer the question in hand: what about one of HMX-1's VH-53Ds or, if you wanted to stay in the world of WHIF, as the SH-3, CH-46 and CH-47 have all been used by non-military operators what about a civilian or para-military scheme?

Hi,

For my pennies worth, I always wanted to do an Israeli CH-53. I'd heard rumours over the years that some of these were armed with missiles when used on special ops. Could never find any photos, and thought it was just exaggeration or a "tall tale".

Then just now, just on the chance of finding one now, I did a 'Goggle' search and found this, it's about half-way down:-

Alas, they've cancelled it........ Typical of my luck...

Italeri's HH-53C boxing comes with an Yas'Ur option.

Incidentally, two of the Israeli birds were ex-Austrian S-65Ö's.

Cheers,

Andre

that is what I was thinking of :)

I took walkaround photos of a CH-53D(USMC) and a couple of MH-53Ms(USAF) several years ago, and I uploaded the photos on my website. If you are interested in these walkaround photos, please click on the following URL.  I hope this will help you some.

As the CH-53G was derived from the D model, here's a few decal sheets already out there for D models in 1/48:

This one has Israeli AF and USMC presidential transport variants on it:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/940627-superscale-international-48-233-sikorsky-ch-53d-and-uh-53d-israeli-af-usmc-mx-1

This one covers some hi visibility USN and USMC markings from the early 1980s:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/197142-microscale-48-224-sikorsky-ch-53d-us-marines-and-rh-53d-us-navy

This one's mix of more contemporary USMC D and E models:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/973331-flying-leathernecks-fl48002-usmc-ch-53d-e-super-stallions

Decals for an Iranian navy version can be found here by scrolling down to the decal section of this page:

For myself, I find the Iranian navy camo eye catching and different. Some decent pictures of the Iranian CH-53Ds can be found here:
