Currently l am almost done my four 1/32 Spitfires Mk IX. l was sitting there the other day looking at my stash on the shelf above my workbench. l got one hobbyboss 1/32 Mk Vb which would be a nice kit but my eyes see the fatness of the fuselage and it just does not look right. l got two Hasegawa Mk Vbs on the shelf, Mk VI and one MkV fuselage. l had earlier came across the above RAAF Mk Vc which would not be hard to do a conversion to one of the Hasegawa kits. l have a spare tamyia Mk IXc sprue ( BB sprue ) with what l need to convert the Mk Vb to a "C". My main problem is again ( always the same old story with me and my choices) is finding markings which in this case is RAAF one with the white tail ( sorry like it ) Do any of you chaps and gals know who has these markings? As for the hobbyboss one well l going to marry the spare hasegawa fuselage to the wings. l have already dry fit them together and it will work. The span is spot on just there will be a thin gap to fill but it is doable .

Hacker the magnificent ( yeah right:P

79 Sqn had white tailed VC's. Kits World do 1/32 scale decals for their Mk VIII Spitfires which could perhaps be adapted for a VC (?). You may need to source some 8" characters for the serial but these are around.

There are these by Australian company Aussie Decals (Alps printed):

and Montex have a 457 Sqn RAAF subject with 1 Fighter Wing in Darwin on 32273:

or if you can find them, Superscale did a set of RAAF Spitfire Vc Decals (same options as can be found the two sheets above, Lou Spence's QYoV and Bush Hamiltons ZPoX) probably more than 30 years ago so has issues such as the codes in white, not sky blue.

unfortunately none of these options offer you a white tail from 79 Squadron.

Aussie Decals available from here (not the same as the Ebay ones)

http://www.modelkitsonline.com.au/pages/main/search.php?Category=Aust+Decals&Make=Aussie+Decals&Scale=1:32&Search=

but in 1/32 scale perhaps home-made or custom-made masks for roundels and codes and decal serials may well be your best alternative although this sheet

will give you what you are after with a bit of modification.

Ed, could you please explain the difference between the Aussie decals sold under the Novascale brand on eBay and the ones listed at Model Kits Online? My understanding is that they are one and same. Certainly the images of the products bears that out.

There are several threads on AMI  that indicate there are screen printed and deposition printed version using the same artwork.

There appear to be quality issues with the Novascale versions

http://www.aussiemodeller.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2772

And it's sometimes difficult to buy them

I'm hesitant to write much about other peoples' decals but this is all on the public record.

I have used the modelkitsonline.com ones without any problems - I'm happy to say that!
