Revell 1/32 Beaufighter Mk 1f Night Fighter.

Recommended Posts

I meant this kit to be a bit of a quick build but it turn out a little more involved. The fit of the wings in-particular is pretty poor and the detail is a work of fantasy for the interior. Fortunately you can't see much of it. However, it can be bashed into something that looks half decent from about 3ft away. I am surprised no one has come out with a new Beau with the recent increase in 1/32 kits as the Revell kit is looking very tired in the market.

It may be old & tired in the current market. But you made a serious go of it. Great work 👌. Maybe the modelling gods listen 1/32nd as you point out is becoming more popular so you might just get one. If the companies think theres a market they will build it.

Interesting.

It got me to research (well, an interweb search)  the cockpit canopy, seeing that solid panel.

I found images of some Beaufighters so equipped.

I'm curious Any idea why they were like this?

You mean the bulkhead behind the pilots seat? I've never seen a beau with that and I can guarantee you that it isn't in a Mk 21, cos I've sat in one.

Hi,

No I mean the solid, not clear, panel on the starboard side of the cockpit canopy.

It's going to close off a large area of vision for the driver!  So it must be there for an imprtant reason i can't fathom.
