Hardtarget
Ok Right made a start this week. Box shots, reference and sprues. Hardtarget
FB.11 Progress First remove the resin from their moulds DSC_0111 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Headrest resin part needs to eb affixed to the read panel. DSC_0112 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Resin spinner affixed to the prop which pushes through a backplate. DSC_0114 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Wing consited of the resin wheel well an underside and poert/sbt top sections. I did not need to sand the wheel well section down and the tops fitted ok with a little fellting. DSC_0120 by stuart wellard, on Flickr A few pegs was all thats required to hold the resin in place. I used my sprueglue to affix the resin to plastic. DSC_0113 by stuart wellard, on Flickr T.20 Progress Control clumns were affixed to the resin cockpit. DSC_0119 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Wings constructed with a little bit of additional touching up of the leading edges. Fuselage halves being a short run its do need a bit of cleaning up. DSC_0121 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Airbrush time. Hu85 loaded and cockpits duly srpayed. DSC_0122 by stuart wellard, on Flickr FB.11 cockpit in situ. The instructions do lead the location of the CP to the imagination if you want the two fulselage halves to fit so be careful with the locaiton and test fit before cementing. Note, also sand the hell out of the tail wheel support section as the fuselage halves will not marry together. DSC_0144 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Fuselage halves cemented with some cleaning up of the seam lines required being careful not to sand the panel lines if possible. DSC_0145 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Wings to fuselage. No dramas and fitted without cutting which is common in short run kits. DSC_0146 by stuart wellard, on Flickr With the sanding required around the cowling i had to rescribe some of the panel lines. DSC_0147 by stuart wellard, on Flickr The downside with a short run kit is the vacform canopy and ive not used these for a while so a little trial and error to get the canopy to the shape required was required. The canopy was cut bits at a time with the final fitting by sanding. Canopy was stuck in place using delux glaze n glue DSC_0148 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Edited August 17, 2017 by Hardtarget
CliffB
That's quite some progress Stuart and looking good. 'Limited run' at its best. Just enough fettling etc. required to keep you involved, but not so much as to be a pain. Cliff
DaveyGair
The wheel well bay certainly seems a better fit than on my Tempest II !! Good going on both kits, I've yet to get the fuselage and wings together. Davey
Hardtarget
Rightho, update time. Steady progression on these two, a bit more work is involved with short run which if taken the time and care turn into a nice little kit. The dual cockpit havs been assembled and painted. Apologies for the photo it seems to have blacked out the details. Beware the tub does not fit dirmensionally so you need to sand the inside of the fuselage and the sides of the tub. I shaved a good 2mm from each side. DSC_0091 by stuart wellard, on Flickr The side cocpit walls was cut off the mount but were not inserted to the walls until the main cockpit was cemntented and hardened. This was due to knowing that they the cockpit tub will not fit if the walls are inserted first. DSC_0092 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Fuselage halves cementre with the cocpit coaming over the IP. DSC_0094 by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0095 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Couling join showing a nice seam which will be dealt with later. DSC_0096 by stuart wellard, on Flickr The T.20's fuselage and wing assembled using the sprueglue leaving a nice bit of 'filler' oozingf out of the joint ready for sanding. DSC_0097 by stuart wellard, on Flickr The two ready for priming and painting. DSC_0101 by stuart wellard, on Flickr After priming the T.20 got her coat of arms. Sprayed using Xtreme Metal Aluminium. Looks a little bright but will weather her later. DSC_0115 by stuart wellard, on Flickr I affixed the U/C in place which doesnt have it faults as the oleos do not fit inside the hold of the wheel well so you have to open up the hole. Sprue glue was used again to ensure a nice firm fixing. Once this had been done, she was masked to get her stripes. DSC_0116 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Vallejo Trainer yellow sprayed on in light dusty coats to prevent flooding and to endure that once the tape has been removed you dont leave a 'wedge' between the yellow and the aluminium.
