Sunderland III interior colours

About to start the Italeri kit.  Interior seems to be called out as interior green throughout, including turrets.  I can imagine this for the cockpit but the turrets?  Also, I recall walking through the RAF Museum exhibit that was aluminium within the hull.  Can anyone confirm this?

Hi Graham,

Apologies for the Google Drive photos, but not found anything to replace PB at present.

If you look at the attached photograph link, you can see what is Silver/Aluminum paint in the interior, and what was RAF green for the interior areas,

and cockpit area (pilots platform for Mk III) black. I would ignore the Italeri call out

Turrets certainly RAF Interior green.

In the interior shots you can see silver and green intermixed

Hope this helps, I have more info if you need it

Bear in mind that Italeri only have 9 Portholes on the Starboard side (lower forward portholes) when there should be 10

Regards

Cheers Alan.  Very helpful.  I won't be opening much up but want at least a reasonable facsimile of the correct scheme.  If I understand you correctly you say interior green for the turrets & black cockpit floor?

Hi Graham,

For the Turrets (all, bow, upper, rear) the interior colour is British Grey Green (in any of its multiple facets :D) Interior green was probably

not the best use of the term....... Pics of forward and rear turrets inner paint colours

Rear

Flight deck flooring colour

Pilots platform and cockpit side walls "Black" - the black colour extends through to the flight deck facing section, of the bow bulkhead

Note colour black under the platform

Aft of the pilots platform the floor colour is British Grey Green

This colour goes all the way to the flight engineers station - note the lower floor colour from Ward room bulkhead to rear of aircraft is blue grey, as you

can make out in this link

Hope that helps?

Regards
