Troy Smith
Sea Hurricane I is based on Hurricane Mk.I IA, for CAM ships, catapult spools only IB, with arrestor hook IC hook and cataplut spools, though there were a couple of Sea Hurricane Ic built, which was a Mk.I with 4 cannon wings. Often said there were 100 built, but no records for this exist.. but every Hurricane book repeats this 'fact' Sea Hurricane II, navalised Mk.II, some were based on the Mk.IIb (or Canadian equivalent, two photos of these during Operation Torch eg https://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Hurricane/Sea-Hurricane/pages/Sea-Hurricane-MkXII-Operation-Torch-JS355-HMS-Biter-Nov-1942-01.html ) with the 12 gun wing, most are Sea Hurricane IIc, with 4 cannon wing. I'll link in threads on this if I can find them.
Graham Boak
Not quite: The Mk.Ib was the main fleet carrier variant with hook and spools and De Havilland propellers. These were required so their extra weight would balance that of the arrester gear. The Mk.Ic is said (in one source only) to have no spools as it was intended for use from escort carriers, but I know of no other reference or photo (or use). Then as Troy says, the supposed Mk.Ic with cannon. Certainly tried experimentally, but the poor thing would have been overloaded and it seems that this was the conclusion reached. Other differences between the Mk.I and Mk.II are those of the land variants. Longer nose, usually different propeller, deeper radiator on the Mk.II, tailwheels.
