Ratch
To deal with the 8096 Belgian centre companies, I needed some Belgic caps for the 8025 flankers. I took them from the Airfix 01745 Waterloo British Infantry, stuck on with superglue gel

Ratch
An addition with an alteration. I decided to add a mounted officer to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Regiment of Grenadiers (Old Guard) and use the figure he replaced with the Emperor and his servant Roustam from the Italeri 6016 French Imperial General Staff set
Ratch
I found 8 more HäT 8014 Napoleonic King’s German Legion Light Dragoons and have added 6 Italeri 6094 British Light Cavalry to make the 2nd Light Dragoons, King's German Legion

Ratch
The next set for renovation were these Airfix 01744 French Infantry Plastic Soldier Review's assessment is less than complimentary, so I did a little research myself. They look more fitting for the 1806 - 1811 period as I see it. In fact they look pretty good for the Fusiliers of the Hanoverian Legion in 1810 (if you overlook the poor figure sculpting), so they'll go back in the box and I shall move on to another set. Ratch
Here's my next set of restorations, 4 Esci (for the flank companies) and 13 Airfix (for the centre companies) to form the 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot, the "Black Watch" Not lots of painting per se but plenty of cleaning up and retouching

Schwarz-Brot
Same as on Freds thread. I'd go for dipping with these small guys. So many of them. You paint them in batches, I guess?
Ratch
Dipping method what that ? Yes I usually paint in bigger batches, but I only need 17 Black Watch
Schwarz-Brot
Basically you can omit all shading and highlighting with dipping. Though I am not sure you do that at all at this scale. It is a method often used by fantasy wargamers. You block in the base colours, say like this picture of yours: You then literally dip the miniatures in a bucket of paint like stain. The stain pools in the recesses and creates very smooth transitions between shadows and highlights. Let it simply drip off or take away excess with a brush (that's what I do, because it allows to further push the highlights. Let dry and give a matte clearcoat - the shading is super glossy. My Zombies from the Zombicide boardgame were done this way: Blood and Metallics I do after the clearcoat. The original bases were cut of after painting was finished because I wanted those clear ones to see the board underneath. If you need a more detailed explanation feel free to ask. Hope this helps
Ratch
I can't see that type of technique working on these figures (nice as yours look). I have tried something similar with Games Workshop Flesh Wash, but the poor sculpting definition makes it pointless. I've finished off my renovation of the 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot, the "Black Watch" Airfix 01735 re-touched and mounted Esci 215 British Infantry (flank/light Highlanders)
Schwarz-Brot
I've got some old revell miniatures in 1/72. I'll give it a try some time, I think. Just to see how it will work out. I dislike inks or washes for this kind of shading - they are too thin and don't work well without super crisp sculpts.
Ratch
Here's how I repainted the tartan for the 73rd Regiment of Foot First blue HU:25 Then green checks Hu:80 Hu:33 black outlines to the checks Finally yellow Hu:24 stripes through the checks

Ratch
All but finished now Hope to finish these tomorrow.... Back in 2014 (IIRC) Airfix asked me to paint their entire A50174 Waterloo 18 June 1815 Gift Set (10 figure sets and the Farmhouse). I had just taken three weeks to complete one set of figures, and they wanted all of them done in five weeks - unfortunately I had to decline
Ratch
My next set of restorations, the 79th Regiment. Mostly Airfix 01735 with 4 Esci 215 figures for the Grenadier and Light Companies
Ratch
Straight onto the 92nd Gordon Highlanders, using the last of my pre-painted 01735 Airfix Highlanders, this time supplemented with a few more Esci 215 British Infantry. Starting with a conversion... The figure on the left (as you can see) has been made into a standard bearer. I wanted the flag to hang more naturally, but using a heated soldering iron I attempted to soften the thin plastic just enough to fold it - but I over-did it and the flag is now torn. I have persisted with the painting, though I may replace it if it's not convincing.

Ratch
In the end I stuck with painting - I can revisit it in the future... 92nd Regiment of Foot (Gordon Highlanders). Mostly Airfix 01735 with 4 added ESCI 215 figures
