TBC
I am looking at buying 1/20 detail parts from Hiro Boy for F1 kits. What would be useful to buy, such as shrink tubing, fuel line, zip ties, fittings, etc. What millimeter sizes should I get? Also, I found PDF downloads of various kit builds. Are these useful it terms of detail pics and the best way to assemble and paint the kits?

shood23
Colin you know me so well lol. And TBC I will link a few of hiroboys products that will be very useful for a 1/20 model http://www.hiroboy.com/120124_Flat_Bottom_Under_tray_Supporting_Rod--product--3714.html http://www.hiroboy.com/120124_Hose_Ends_Joint_Set_non_plated__P978--product--4279.html http://www.hiroboy.com/Resin_AN_Hose_Joints__SMALL_08mm--product--3686.html http://www.hiroboy.com/Clear_Tube_08mm_OD_x_04mm_ID__P902--product--938.html http://www.hiroboy.com/IgnitionPlug_Wire__Black_04mm--product--2032.html http://www.hiroboy.com/IgnitionPlug_WirePiping_Cord_x_6_Colours_04mm--product--2650.html These little sets are a must for any detailing as they have various sizes of connectors and wires plus shrink tube http://www.hiroboy.com/120124_Electrical_Connectors_Set_A_--product--1607.html http://www.hiroboy.com/120124_Electrical_Connectors_Set_B_--product--5261.html And finally I've have just picked up a set of these for panels and bodies as they are very small but I've herd they do a great job. http://www.hiroboy.com/100_Neodymium_Magnets_2mm_dia_x_1mm_Body_Panels--product--11445.html Hope this helps and post you work in the build section as it's always nice to see f1 cars in there. TBC
What's the best choice for harnesses in 1:20? It looks like there are a few manufacturers.
shood23
It all depends on what year your tryi g to replicate. Mfh is more expensive but the quality shows compared to the others. S27 I think has just bought a range of belts out as well but I haven't tried theses yet but they should be good given the branding. Shaun

Shaun Thanks again, Shaun. The MFH and Studio 27 sets don't seem to mention which vintage of F1 cars their harness sets are applicable to and I simply cannot tell by looking at them. This Tamiya set: http://www.hiroboy.com/120_F1_Seat_Belt_Harness_Set_A_1970s80s__12637--product--3880.html covers the period I am interested in but I don't care for the colours. Would you be able to tell me which of the MFH or S27 sets would be of similar vintage?
shood23
If it's the belt colour that's the issue then hiroboy does many others http://www.hiroboy.com/search?q=Belt+material+&t=all The mfh one I think can do most eras if you leave some parts out and not a few bits Shaun

AntPhillips
Hi TBC, I have a bunch of detail sets hanging around in the stash, I sold off the bulk of my F1 and Group C kit collection some time back, I'll get it all together over the weekend, I might be able to save you a few quid. I'll PM you later. Happy modelling Ant

Happy modelling Ant I placed an order yesterday with HiroBoy, however, PM me and let me know what you have as I didn't order everything I needed and they didn't have stock on everything I wanted. I am also looking for some rather hard to find/out of production 1:20 detail sets for the Tamiya RA272 kit. Edited July 29, 2017 by TBC
Ade H
I was going to ask the same question as you, TBC. Let us know how you get on with what you bought, e.g. what proves to be most useful. I've a Tamiya MP4/7 at the top of the pile.
