The latest batch of DBI (ex-Compucolour) paints arrived today. I cracked one of them open and the smell immediately took me back to when I was painting  a Hasegawa A-10, aged sixteen (I was using Compucolour's FS 34092 at the time). They say that the sense of smell is one of the most powerful triggers for memories, and that "flashback" was most intense!

I wonder what it was they were putting in those paints at the time!

Cheers,

Mark.

Amazon had the 300 Squadron book (Volume 4 in the RAF Bomber Command Squadron Profile series) for $6 -- normally it's $25 or so. It rings a few of my bells, and so naturally I grabbed it.

interesting, where did you get this, or what is the make?

is this for use with thin metal as well?  That look like thin brass sheet in the pic.

Oh why did you have to ask that?? You do realise the moment I saw the link I clicked on it and bought one so this is officially your fault when SWIMBO finds out.

To answer the Thread's question I bought one of those hole punch thingies as originally purchased by Big X. Go have a look, you know you want one too (spread the blame!).

Beaten to it at a carboot this morning by seconds - some lucky chaps got Tamiya Vosper Perkasa, Japanese PT15 (1/72) and 1/350 Tirpitz + Matchbox Flower class corvette all for 3-4 quid each.  Gutted- but I didnt 'need' them!

The amount I've eaten tonight they'll probably resemble and feel like that in the morning.

Airfix 1/48 Meteor. Don't know why. I was never a fan of the Meteor. It's a rather pedestrian fighter compared to its contemporaries and seems an anomaly in the lineage of British fighters.

But it caught my eye in the local art and hobby shop recently and this morning early, after dropping the kids to school I found myself heading up the local high street among all the delivery vans heading unerringly for the shop.

I'm not disappointed. It's half built already and it might, just might be my first finish in years and it could be appearing in RFI at some point.

Nice kit.

No, I doubt it LOL. But I'd rather have them in my stash knowing I have them to be built one day, a few on that list *are* getting built very soon, others not so... :)

A flight manual for the F-106 impulsively purchased 30 minutes before finding a mass of technical publications for the aircraft freely available from this remarkable page:

https://www.f-106deltadart.com/manuals_documents.htm

It gets better. Its a facsimile on CD, and my laptop doesn't have a CD drive.

:doh::doh:

'Impulse': like stupidity, only stupider...

Paint, blades, Tamiya refill tape, enamel thinners, Airfix new tool 262 and an Airfix '72 Hurricane. The 262 (haven't looked in the box yet) was purchased out of curiosity as I was going to get another of their '48 Sea Hurricanes and the Hurricane 'cos I'm in the mood for a bit of mischief and whiffery; Norwegian perhaps?

At the car boot sale this morning.

I have a future project in mind but need a pair of robot/AT-ST type legs for it.

I found a Star Wars 3 legged weapon carrier/assault thing. Possibly from clone wars?

Bits missing but the legs are what I wanted.

Just one pound. Kerching! Ta very much.
