Sutton harness in Yak piston fighter ?

The Yak piston fighters (Yak-1 to Yak-9) had early type Sutton harnesses fitted as introduced in late WWI.

In British use, the locking pin and clip are attached to the shoulder harness by a string.

But this looks not to be the case in the harnesses fitted to the Yak.

The picture is from a preserved aircraft and it is maybe just missing.

But there are several period pictures which show the shoulder harness dangling outside the cockpit as shown here.

This wouldn't work too well if the locking clip is attached to the shoulder harness.

So the question is, where was the locking pin and clip stored prior strapping in in Yak fighters?

Would be great if someone has an idea.

Cheers, Peter
