Save this Tornado, sign the petition

There is a campaign to save the Gulf pink '25 years of Operations' Tornado from being reduced to spare but petition signers are required

I've signed, but in a way I'm unsure.  ZG750 is a late production aeroplane and didn't participate in Gulf War 1: other, more significant, airframes have already perished at the hands of the scrap merchants and no-one seems to have known 'til it was too late.  The F. Mk. 2 and 3 fleets fared even worse with pitifully few complete examples surviving.  If CoNAM can give this aeroplane a good home, even if she's been robbed of serviceable parts, then well done to them (I'd love to visit them one day, but living in the waste of Bedfordshire and relying on public transport it ain't easy).

So how will signing a petition help save the aircraft? Will it donate the money required to maintain it?

Why should this particular ariframe be preserved?

I can understand why it may seem an odd airframe to save but if the Norwich group want one and are prepared to spend time and  money on its upkeep then I for one am happy to support them. If anyone wanted the entire fleet I would support that as well but alas thats unlikely to happen

One of the development prototypes was available last year. Everetts sold it to the Netherlands and it's going on display at a museum there. Norwich could have had that one.

Hmm worthy stuff worth a try but i think MoD has other concerns.Even if they said yes then there is the logistics and money of moving the cab then storage etc etc.
