hsr
This is my Unicraft YO-3a, affectionally know by its crews as the Yoyo. The work in progress thread can be found at; The YO-3a was a low altitude silent stealth aircraft designed to observe enemy troops at night without making an audible ground level sound. For more information see: http://www.yo-3a.com/ and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_YO-3 You can see the build thread for my trials and tribulations, but this is what I had to start with; Given that I am kind of proud about how it turned out, K'velen in fact. Next up is the Airfix O-2 Skymaster. Enjoy.
Lawzer
I watched the wip and all I can say is - very well done! I wasn't even sure there was a kit in amongst all that....... and on another note - never heard of this aircraft so you learn something new every day (but now i can't remember where my keys are )

Pete in Lincs
Nice one. I think this is what I saw in Riyadh some years ago. It was being flown over the city at night by an American chap called 'Dave' who we suspected worked for 'a firm'. The one I saw had quite a few aerials on it however.
hsr
They only made 11, none were ever lost in combat, and there are 6 at various museums. That leaves 5 unaccounted for Edited July 15, 2017 by hsr spelling

JWM
Your turned it into nice model! Congrats I remember when I was a kid interesting already in airplanes and the Vietnam War was on. In Polish airplane journal ("Skrzydlata Polska") with my Brother we saw photos of a new weapon used by US in this war, and it was not looking very dangerous, it was exactly this photo, I think: Nevertheless it is Lockheed OY-3. Unicraft is name of model maker, I guess? Regards J-W Edited July 15, 2017 by JWM
hsr
It looks like security retouched the photo to make the wings looks smaller and the tail bigger, but that's it. Yes Lockheed YO-3A, based on the Schweizer SGS 2-23 sail plane. Thanks
Pete in Lincs
Having had what passes for a good think. The one I saw was white with no markings at all! It more than likely arrived in a box out of a C130 and probably departed the same way. I think it was about fifteen years ago.
georgeusa
Great kit of an obscure bird. And Pete, they could fit the parts for one aircraft in a C-47, unmarked of course! For what it was intended to do, it was a great design. Just didn't have much range and was really slow. But it was silent and only gave off a faint vibration when directly over you. I would love to build a kit of this plane, but to be honest, I don't think I have the talent or patience to tackle this particular kit. Hsr you have truly taken the sow's ear and made a silk purse! 3 hours ago, Pete in Lincs said: Having had what passes for a good think. The one I saw was white with no markings at all! David Newman
Great build. I have seen a couple in museums and the one NASA had used as a slow speed chase plane. David Muroc Models

Kevin Callahan
The transition from photo #1 to photo #2 is likely more than I can accomplish without resorting to clouds of colorful language. A great job with a brick of a kit.

JOCKNEY
Absolutely amazing, having seen the WIP, I've never seen a kit made with hardened "Angel Delight" before. Take a bow Sir, my goodness you've earned it ! cheers Pat

TonyTiger66
Just an amazing transformation. You more or less started with the Unicraft blurred, vague 'suggestion' of a kit and made it your own solid, clearly defined model. The canopy and interior have worked out really well; the paint job is great. Would recommend anyone that hasn't seen it to read the WIP. hsr
Usually the interior and canopy are my downfall with dust infiltration from sanding, but this one was easy to seal and the vacuformed canopy, which I hate, worked out.
