1/48 Scale Display Stand for GWH F15-C MSIP

Hi All,

 

I hope I am posting this in the correct area, I am looking for display stand for F15-C. I like to have the this one in flight and hence the question.

 

Any advise and links of where I can buy one? Seen some from Airfix but not sure if it will do the job or what modifications I will have to do.

Hi Lish,

 

It's difficult to get a decent stand to pose larger model aircraft 'in flight'.

 

I ended up buying a small wooden plinth and a piece of clear acrylic rod from ebay (for my 1:48 scale EE Lightning) earlier this year. You then just have to drill a hole for the rod in the plinth and then - carefully - cut a hole for the rod in the belly of your aircraft.

 

I managed to get a really nice tight fit when I did this, and I did not even need any glue to mount it.  I'm glad I went down this road, as it looks great in the cabinet and much more classy than one of those black plastic jobs that are becoming hard to find in stock.

Trumpeter makes a small and very simple one.. I used it on a SU-17.. it. Orsnt allow the plane to sit st a angle.. I actually came yo enjoy the flat level flight look..

There's a fair bit of 'Lightning Porn' in this video, so if your not into EE Lightnings I recommend you fast forward to the build pics.  

 

I positioned the acrylic rod off centre on the plinth here, as I thought that would suit my subject better. But for most subjects you probably want to centre your acrylic rod in the plinth and then, likewise, make the hole in the fuselage of the aircraft bang on the CoG. Depends on what you want it to look like, but the choice is yours.

I like what you're trying to do...  I too think an in-flight Eagle makes an impressive display!  I completely agree with Blue_Centurion and think you'll be much happier with a stand you build vs. a store bought plastic stand.  Here is a stand I build for my Hasegawa Eagle using a scrap of oak and an aluminum bar I bent to shape (and polished).  To attach the model, I used 2 threaded bolts (and washers for spacing), which slide into aluminum tubing inside the model.

That is very nicely done. I'm trying to get ideas for when I do a few builds that are depicted in flight.

Nicely done! As a lay person, it was a good presentation of the Lightning. The very first model I built (with my Dad doing most of the work since I was about 7 years old) was a 1/72 Hasegawa Lightning back around 1966-1967. I have not built one since, but I'll put that aircraft on my to-do list...maybe as a finale.
