Hello, Tomahawk, Kittyhawk, and Warhawk fans!

Just found this great collection of Life Magazine photos while looking for a response to a post on another P-40 topic. Some great detail and reference photos here. Enjoy!

I just checked The Famous Online Auction Site and it seems Pavla released one in 1/72nd, so I picked it up.  The subsequent kit review by Jim Schubert on Internet Modeller told me all I need to know--a good kit, will make a fine build OOB, but add some little things and it will be all the better for it.  I think I will keep it natural metal.

Thanks for the push!

Looks like the "what colour should I paint the recessed area behind the cockpit on my P-40" could be answered for some!

Agree to that.

But there's one more question which bugs most P-40 builds:

"what colour should I paint the "US ARMY" inscription on my P-40", as it could be Black or Insignia Blue.

Seems that Black is the way, at least for P-40B/C models...

The 1936 Spec 98-24105 called for the "US Army" marking to be in black dope or oil paint - or white if there was insufficient contrast. Spec 24114 of 22 October 1940 changed the colour to Insignia Blue 47.
