Dads203
Cheers Colin, the book won't disappoint fella, its a real gem of info aimed at the HU5, just wish I had got it before I started this build off. I'll be replacing the tie downs with some wire that's for sure I have the PE versions but they look a little 2D for my liking. So bottom hull is now glued up, I'm thinking that all the detail I added has caused a bit of a fit problem, nothing serious but a little shimming is required to get it looking better. Tail wheel test fitted Cheers for looking chaps Dan
Dads203
Bottom of the hull is now filled and drying, I've started on the tie down loops on the side of the fuselage. 2 done and two more to do. More later Dan
Dads203
Other side tie downs done, the hand rail under the main cabin door is started and the fuel dump pipe drilled out and added. Enjoy Dan

Dads203
Cheers Kev, Not so much in the mince pies but other nice delights So almost back to pre drop status now, pilot is back in the seat but I've noticed that one of the rudder pedals has come adrift, I found it before it was lost forever which is relief. FLIR Turret has been cut down. Cheers once again for looking. Dan

Dads203
Starting to look like a Sea King now, canopy Kleared up and test fitted, next up will be to spray the top windows in the clear colours. Cheers for all the likes and comments Dan
Dads203
Not had much time today on the build but I did manage the bungee cord for the door opening of the sea tray. I used the Uschi rigging cord 0.05 MM OD, quite small indeed With it being elasticated I can slip it off for paint Dan
moaning dolphin
I was going to ask if it was elasticate, I used to use white elastic which was fine except when needing it for aerials etc, that stuff looks ideal! Great work! Bob

Dads203
Again only an hour on the build today, I've made a start on the crew step under the main cabin door, bodged from the HC4 step that came with the Eduard PE set and some wire. Some cleaning up required but the basics are done Dan

Not to give you any bad ideas, but I would consider removing the molded windshield wipers, polishing up with some micromesh, and then scratching something up from wire and PE. What do you think? I did think about it mate and I’ve got the Eduard PE wipers from the HC4 set but I think it’s more work than it’s worth fella, a bit of careful painting and the kit wipers should be fine

Ex-FAAWAFU
I’m inclined to agree about the wipers, especially in this scale; those moulded ones look pretty OK, actually. Are you going to try to OAT gauge probes in the centre windscreen...? [Just asking...!]

[Just asking...!] OAT gauge probes are on the list fella, One question though if I may, the inside of the cockpit side windows are they black as per the rest of the cockpit or yellow? I've seen some ( my ref photos )and I think are only on the RAF HAR3's as the outside is painted that nice high viz yellow. Just want to make sure that running with black is the correct colour. My thought process is that they are jettisonable in case of an emergency and yellow would be a good way of highlighting an exit to the crew ? Ex-FAAWAFU
Assuming you are building an NVG cab (and if your cockpit is black, then you must be), then it's all black forward of the jump seat (i.e. all of the pilot bits). As you can see from glimpse of red window, this is the inside of an RN SAR aircraft, left-hand pilot's seat. Your reasoning is correct, though; the yellow is nothing to do with the RAF yellow SAR aircraft - all ASW Sea Kings (not sure about Junglies) have yellow insides to the jettison-able section of the pilots' windows, which is to make them easier to find underwater if the worst happens. This simple measure has saved more than one life in its time.
