A bit disappointed, tbh

The Flyhawk 1/72 offering looks more detailed, especially around the exhaust, crew hatches, & tracks.

The layout of the kit doesn't suggest other (non-A2) variants, nor does the hull support SEP variants. The boxtop is 100% accurate - this is a plain vanilla M1A2 - it's just that this is one of the least-produced variants of this vehicle.

Would it be too much to ask for an opened drivers hatch? Nearly every picture has the driver's head out. I see I'll be getting more practice filling in ejector pin marks on the track runs. At least they're on the inside unlike the HB T-34 :mental:

In Australian service, the driver's hatch is generally open when being ground guided. Something about the driver's hatch, when opening, having an interlock that prevents the turret traversing. The loader's hatch, on the other hand.....

Its finally time that 1/48 modern AFV kits are starting to come out. Tamiya has been championing the way, no better way to help kick start it with an Abrams and the Type 10 not to mention the humvee and japanese armoured vehicle. Hopefully other manufacturers will follow suit.

Its time 1/48 modern AFV kits get there time in the sun.
