Grumman Goose, Cat Lai, Indochina, 1952

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Finally finished my latest addition to my Indochina collection,

mdEUHZe.jpg

My attempt at Czech Models 1/48 Grumman Goose kit

mXwtlef.jpg

Finished to represent an aircraft of Esc. de Servitude 8S, Cat Lai, Indochina, 1952

RlbKY5M.jpg

Built mostly from the box contents, additions being: Pitot Tube, Antenna Mast and Aerial Wire, Anti Collision Light, Window Blinds and Ignition Harness.

Replaced some of the fiddley and weak resin items such as seat legs with more robust materials, especially as you can`t see them anyway

Decals from Berna Decals set BD 48-81

Hope you enjoy, Thanks for looking

Another lovely model Russ, your certainly knocking them out at the Russ production line at a fair rate, hiding my head in shame with one done this year so far, and a car at that haha

Hi Russ,

as usual, a great looking model, looking just perfect!

Plus the Aeronavale aircraft always look fantastic. I don't know why I am so attracted to Navy aircraft when I get sea sick in my bath.... Go figure.

Congrats!

Very nice (yet again!) love the slightly out of the ordinary subject matter. What's next?

Cheers FF, really glad you like it.

What`s next ? Well without giving too much away, there`s a Japanese Recce type almost finished and a `Secret War` Chopper not far behind. I`ve just unbagged and washed the sprues of a Trumpy Skywarrior, but it`s not going to be the option or version that`s in the box.

Also, thanks to Everyone for their very positive comments, feedback and `likes`. Appreciated

Very nice job Russ and unusual subject, I really like "La Royale" as the french used to call their Navy,

Nice weathering, nice painting, congratulations

An Oscar with french roundels and a camouflaged Skywarrior with lots of blisters and protrusions ???

Don't forget the sismical sensors instead of the sono buoys ^_^

Congrats my friend, great job on this one too !

Sincerely.

I'm not an expert like you surely are but I have a great interest in indochina and viet nam wars.

I've been Lucky enough to meet some protagonist of these conflicts.

I've started a Bronco, my F4-B will be Viet Nam related as will be my MiG 21.

And numerous other projects that are waitng on my stash.

Once again, good job on that Goose, I missed the kit at the time...

For that while, I'm engulfed in my FAA projects, lot of fun too...

Sincerely.

Ermm, that`s really kind of you, but I don`t profess to being an expert ( at anything really ) just someone who`s got a thing about war and palm trees really :)

Look forward to seeing your `nam stuff.

Cheers Russ

Very nice build, especially with this scheme !

How would you qualify the build of the Czech model kit ?

Thanks Toniosky,

It`s not tooooo bad, except for the canopy, interior bulkheads, floor and undercarriage, esp the canopy, as long as you`ve some limited run experience. I managed it so it can`t be that bad.

Cheers Russ
