I've made two repops of this kit before tackling this original (Spiderman 2099) (Scarlet Spider) and word to the wise if you can find one go for the original, the web detail is a nightmare on the repops, bit shallow and inconsistent and obviously the fits a bit off; but if its all you can find its still worth a crack at it. Well this arrived in the post much to the great jealousy of my 5 year old daughter! 20171005_131044 by Nick Frost, on Flickr This will be my base, always find sourcing large round bases a pain and managed to find this and it was crazy cheap compared to some of the baking tins I was looking at. 20171005_131740 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Plan is to sit him on it with a large classic spiderman face symbol and around the sides I'm going to put a load of classic spidey covers. Next up I'll grab my fine liners and do some webbing, which I'm sure will be in no way a tedious thing to do Thanks for looking, more soon
Carts
I do enjoy seeing your Spiderman figures, the pose is fantastically dynamic I think.
Hunter Rose
Cheers Andy! Yeah its definitely one of the best spiderman kits out there I have started on the webbing, had a little delay because my 03 fine liner was a bit thick as was my 02 so I had to get an 01 and its working like a charm, fits nicely in the grooves (with a bit of wiggling and back and forthing!) So I got one lot of foot webbing done 20171006_134603 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171009_131556 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171009_134246 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So next up I'll continue with the webbing, which even with the pen is a bit slow but at least its a simple process. Carts
Definitely a lot sharper than the re-pops!

Well I scored one off ebay for 10 US dollars, not sure if its a recast or not as all the ones listed on ebay seem to vary between brown or grey vinyl. The one I got is grey and look pretty similar to yours, the guy had tons of good feedback too so it's just a matter of waiting and seeing what I get. My (as yet unmade) Horizon Robocop and ED 209 are both the grey vinyl and are fine, so I'm hoping I managed to pick up a good'un!
Hunter Rose
Cool! Glad you got one, its very probably a repop at that price, but it'll still be good to build. Like I said after doing 2 myself they're not that bad.
Hunter Rose
Still got my pen working overtime on spidey with the webbing, I'm getting there, both boots done and his torso and I went around the spider logo on his back 20171011_131818 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171011_131846 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171011_132746 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171011_133751 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I have penned the spider on his chest but that will be painted again with a brush when its all done along with the eye borders, now its all the fiddly webbing around his neck arms hands and head left (sigh!) So more fine lining is next! Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Thanks Brian, thankfully the lines are surprisingly deep so the fine liner fits nice and snug after a bit of wiggling!
Hunter Rose
Okay update time! Spent a couple of evenings finishing off the webbing with my fine liner, so glad that task is finished! 20171014_094547 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171014_094555 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171014_094611 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171014_125719 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171014_131037 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171014_131054 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171014_161622 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171014_162535 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171014_193442 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171015_092936 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171015_092955 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And one other thing I did was to make a start sorting out a large gap that has been absolutely doing my head in! You cant really see it when he's posed so I was tempted to just leave it but I know its there so its time to sort it out so I can stop thinking about it. Smoothed over some milliput so that I can just paint it over with some blue when its dry. 20171015_132224 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And whilst that is drying I used some good old humbrol 33 black enamel paint on the eye borders and chest spider logo 20171015_133126 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171015_133131 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So next up I'll paint over the milliput and the only other thing I want sort out is the dark blue of the back of his torso; its a bit dark compared to the legs so I'm going to remask the red and spray a little white on the raised detail and then more blue to even it out with the how the legs look and help give a highlighted look to the raised muscle detail. Remasking is a bit of a pain but it really needs doing (again its doing my head in!) Thanks for looking, more soon
Hunter Rose
Right! Im feeling good, I've managed to iron out the bits of this build that were really bugging me. First off, the blue. The main problem really was my airbrush was not spraying right so I've replaced the needle before respraying the blue to even out the slight difference between top and bottom. So masked out his back 20171016_133905 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171016_134507 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And after spraying you can see its much more blue now less of the red undercoat is showing through. And then i did the same for the legs, the lighter bits on his behind and thighs are again where it sprayed a bit weak. 20171017_131953 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171017_133508 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And finally i also painted some enamel blue over the now dry milliput. 20171017_134136 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So yeah over the moon that i got all my issues resolved. Next up I'll get his eyes painted, and I'll start designing the vinyl stickers for my base. Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Thanks guys! Had a bit if shed time today so i got his eyes sorted. Started by covering his face in masking tape and then because of the deep lines was able to cut around with a scalpel, which is not a technique i use often but made the masking a breeze in this instance. 20171019_131408 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And after all the masking and remasking sorting out the blue im taking ZERO chances with over spray, so he's wrapped up good and tight! 20171019_132244 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I also kept the white paint a little on the thick side to be doubley sure it wont leak under the tape and to get good coverage over the red. 20171019_133000 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So eyes done! He's actually starting to look like spiderman now. 20171019_133225 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171019_133239 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So once the paints dry I'll matte coat the whole thing and start using pigment powders to add shading and touch up the webbing where necessary. Hunter Rose
Just a small update to show the pigment work i started today. I've just done the red for now using mig old rust pigment to shade him. 20171025_134206 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171025_134224 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Im very happy with how it looks, next up I'll use some soot black pigment (sparingly!) to shade the blue and im going to mix a little of the black with some European dust to create a light grey to shade the eyes. Thanks for looking, more soon
Hunter Rose
Okay, update! All pigment work is done and sealed, used black smoke pigment (incorrectly called it black soot in the above post) to shade the blue and mixed a little of the black in with light dust pigment to make a light grey to lightly shade the edges of the eyes. 20171026_133334 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171026_133342 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171026_133406 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I've also started packing out the base with some blue insulation foam just to save on the amount of plaster of paris I need and to act as an anchor for it. 20171101_133737 by Nick Frost, on Flickr First pour and I quickly realised I dont have as much as I thought I did 20171102_134832 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So I've just bought some more today so Im going to get that done over the weekend. And I've also started the artwork for the top and sides which I'll print on vinyl and cut out using my print and cut machine at work, its going to be classic spidey face logo on top and I've picked some classic covers to to go round the sides. 20171102_095433 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20171102_095347 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So next up I'll mix up some more plaster of paris and get the base filled so I can just get the primer on and spray it black ready for the vinyl stickers I'll add. Hunter Rose
Cheers dude! Update time, got my plaster mixed and whammed in, forgot to take a pic but after it dried I cut another round sheet of foamex board to seal it in. 20171105_130547 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And using my print and cut machine at work I cut got my stickers for the base sorted 20171108_105926 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Which I primed and sprayed satin black 20171108_133715 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And then I carefully stuck them on using some application tape 20171109_132944 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So it all pretty much there, I've drilled holes in spideys feet and later today I'll drill holes in the base, get him glued on and then it'll be final pics time Thanks for looking, more soon
