WP_20170824_13_53_48_Pro

I say closeer !

Yes, I spend a good 5 minutes with the kids !

He was painfully trying to have a bit of good time with a Tennis ball !!

Very Aroused that poor bird !! But that ball did'nt react !!

I just caught up with your thread BB.

I'm used to seeing birds like this CC. More or less every day.

Because I'm in Australia :hmmm: .

The thing that no one appears to have mentioned; you took this photograph in England.

That's some dear old lady's escaped pet budgie CC :frantic: !!!

I know things are different in Belgium to England but...

or has England really changed that much since I was there?

Are there now huge flocks of budgerigars swooping over the South Downs?

Is it usual to see a chatter of budgerigars, teaching each other Latin in the park bandstand, of a Sunday morning?

We had a pet budgie just like that fly out of the window in 1979. We were living in Nelson at the time. Not that far away. It was my aunt's budgie, called; "Charlie".

My aunt liked to name her budgies after members of the royal family :king: .

Charlie had been taught to insult my uncle. Charlie's cage was just next to my uncles lounge rocking chair, by the fire. My uncle Leonard would light a fire, sit down and light his pipe  :pipe:.

Then Charlie would screech in a high pitched voice";

"Lazy Len! lazy Len!!! squawk!! lazy Len!! LAZY LEN!! squawk!! whistle, lazy LEN!!....."

My uncle Len was quietly very relieved when Charlie flew out of the window, never to be seen again :phew: .

Although, prudently, he didn't tell his wife that. He consoled her and bought her a new Roberts radio, in the hope it would suffice to fill the silence, left by Charlie's departure.

Two weeks later my aunt bought a full size Mynah bird.

I always felt a little sorry for my uncle Len :(.

Anyway CC, maybe some fellow Britmodellers ( @The Spadgent, @TheBaron@Martian Hale?) can help us out, advise us if Budgies are now regularly to be seen throcking tennis balls in the wild, screeching; "Who's a pretty boy then? Who's a pretty boy then?" :o?

I think maybe, if possible, one should try to gently catch the bird, and then make a telephone call to the the RSPB? Or would it be the RSPCA because it's a pet?

We were never taught what to do at school, should we find someone's errant escaped pet budgie, throcking a ball in a public place .

Cough.

Erm.

Nice Spitfire CC :D!!

A dog too!

No budgie then?

I mean, no coastal battery diorama is going to be complete without a chatter of sea budgies, perched on the guns, discussing Derrida's meaning of 'l'avenir versus 'the future', Most likely nibbling at cuttlefish, Millet and Trill from the local takeaway.

I wonder where one can purchase 1/72 budgerigars? It's probably best not to look for 1/72 tennis balls :hmmm: ?

Best regards

Those look like parakeets, in parts of the UK escaped birds have thrived and bred to sucah an extent that some people now consider them a pest.

Many thanks, yes it is!

I'm very used to parakeets, lorikeets, cockatoos and so on here, but somehow it feels very odd to think of them in the wild in England.

They make a horrendous noise. It's not a very nice dawn chorus if one is nearby.

I followed on and read read this article:

Apologies for thread drift CC; happy to edit.

Hello Dears,

Dear @Martian Hale I did'nt forget to rock !!!

For my first time in a GB, I will finish the Ryan in due time.

But still spend some work on by AAA battery !

About to be buttoned up, some detailling to add but let's have a look !

Once the fuselage will be closed, there would'nt left too many to look at !

WP_20171030_21_24_27_Pro

Just the Dashboard and some wiring.

Will insert the turret after the painting, that seem possible !

I'm struggling to find a little fella that can get into the turret, since I read that they were constantly manned !!

That surely was a very boring job. Sitting in a turret in an a sitting duck on the verges of an airfield !!

Have a very good modelling time !!

Sincerely !

I see the bank of cylinders in the background.  I have use started the SH 1/48 Skua and decided to build the Bristol Perseus first.  I will say this - it will try your patience.  Attaching the exhaust collector ring to the engine using the exhaust from each cylinder is a feat of determination over physics... I managed it but it came very close to learning to fly....  Good luck with yours..

Hello Grey,

Don't you worry about, I just followed @Martian Hale's way... You can see it through his own Roc's building, and sincerely, it's easy !

The row of cylinders in the Backgroud are for my production line of Pratt & Whittney 2800 for my corsairs.

I invite you to try martian's way, will do it for all my Perseus and so !!

Sincerely.

Cheers Corsaircorp,

I didn't launch it but I did complete it.  Top, bottom, side, side then fill in the rest once dry.  Lots of test fitting into the cowling.

This weekends mission is to smooth the collector ring into the cowling and complete the cowling.  Might even get some cockpit done..

Hello Dears,

I finished my daughter's bedroom

Everything has been done from scratch, floor ,walls, ceiling, electricity and so on !

She seem glad and had already invaded the place.

WP_20171106_15_23_39_ProWP_20171106_15_23_12_Pro

I've worked on a lot of things this evening

and look !

WP_20171106_22_08_11_Pro

The roc is a big beast of an aeroplane !!

The comparison point is the Skua room in Yeovilton But the poor Skua is smashed into bits !

WP_20171106_22_08_45_Pro

Far longer than a PR XIX !! It's almost the size of a Stuka or a Stormovik !!

Amazing for a fighter, When she received her wings, will put her aside of the P-47N !

Have a very nice modelling time.

Sincerely.

Looking towards to seeing how you get on with the turret interior Cc.

Were the Bolton Paul turrets identical on both the ROC and Defiant? There are some great sequences of the latter here:

Hth,

Tony

I would not have wanted to get out of that in a hurry. Unplug comms, unlpug oxygen, undo seatbeat, open doors (which are behind you!), climb out, reach back in for parachute(!), put parachute on and jump. Whilst flying downwards at great speed exposed to rushing air, extreme cold and gunfire.  And all the time trying not to panic... :o:poop:

Tail unit did'nt fare better

WP_20171124_23_53_07_ProWP_20171124_23_53_19_Pro

I will glue the upper face before and then the lower ones, that will limit the amount of sanding !

Will not start to buy Tools but while in SMW I found this ! very useful

Flexi file is my new friend, and I will give a try to flory wash soon !
