Hardtarget
I shall be partaking with a FAA element starting with the Sea vixen. Ive never built this kit but have built the Frog and Xtrakit offering and tbh it cant be as bad as the Xtrakit incarnation. Box shots and progress will appear hear. Started today and she is nearly at paint stage. Edited September 24, 2017 by Hardtarget
DAG058
Nice kit, I built it a few years back. I think the seats were the wrong scale, I'm sure I bought AM replacements. I think I also bought a replacement nose, the kit one was the wrong shape. It also added a nice bit of nose weight. I'm looking forward to watching your build progress, good luck! Hardtarget
Rightho time to post progress. Box shot DSC_0006 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Pit, no real issues here. DSC_0007 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Intakes and exhausts cemented in place. again no issues. DSC_0008 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Pit painted and i didnt have any replacement seats but as they are hidden pretty well i dont thin they matter too much. DSC_0009 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Prepping the top and bottom fuselage halves for cementing. Wing assembled int he background. DSC_0011 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Boom time, fuselage affixed and wing folding mechanisums in place for later assembly. DSC_0012 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Boom and stablizer affixed in place. no fit issues again. DSC_0013 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Nose in place with plenty of nose weight. At this point she is on her legs to ensure that she balances. DSC_0028 by stuart wellard, on Flickr
Hardtarget
This poor sole has taken a back burner so a final push on this to get her finished is on. Right, got the airbrush out on Saturday and gave her a nice coat of humbrol EDSG. DSC_0098 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Whilst drying i go tmy little masking tool to paint the wheels. I simply hold this tight over the wheel hub and perfect circles. DSC_0099 by stuart wellard, on Flickr the top surfaces were masked along with demarcation lines and the Vallejo insignia white was loaded in a separate gun. The drying properties of the Humbrol EDSG were very quick and were touch dry in only half hour. Miss the enamesl if used correctly i.e psrayed thinly and not flooding the areas. DSC_0100 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Masking removed and photo take at half 8 this morning as the sun was piercing through the blind. Note that the nose cone isnt complete. I lefe this loose for a reason as i may need to add additional weight as the COG seems to be different with the wings up position to that of them being down. DSC_0120 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Ill get some decals on her now and then fix the wings in place to check that balance. The nose will be the last job.
