Cessna O-1E Bird Dog - Hasegawa 1:48

Recommended Posts

Thanks all!

Evert, M-16 rifle is coming from a Tarmac resin figure (hard hard to find now).

P.S. After a new check about -1E version, a little detail is changed from previous pictures. Upper-rear aerator now is a green tube instead the original grey articulated one.

Happy weekend from a sunny Rome!

Work still in progress here. Although rather invisible from outside, in order to give more realism, I added steerage wires. Strange to haven't seen them in any other Bird Dog in scale...

Little Cessna in progress!

it was time for upper clear parts. Unfortunately they came into 2 blocks, quite unrealistic...

I divided one each other, in the same time I got a new structure inside the cabin ceiling by styrene...

Clear parts were not identical one each other. A dry fitting helped me to name them properly before an immersion on Future wax...

Last update of the day: armament panel on cabin ceiling by styrene...

Welcome back to Vietnam FAC Cessna,

in order to give to the fuselage the same section of the front canopy, I added two metallic segments and removed the corresponding plastic details on the top of the ceiling (see earlier pictures). It's a must!

About tail, I removed ailerons for a new setting. Manhole visible as well...

Hi all,

latest updates before moving to London & Telford. Rivets and panels are coming to the whole surface. It takes a lot of patience of course...

Back from Telford with a lot of great pictures, tools and models. Now it's time to work hard again on Bird Dog.

It's finally on its landing legs. Rivets inside front bulkhead are on place...

A lot of work is requested for rear landing leg. Very detailed pictures of an Italian Army Bird Dog give me indications what to do by styrene. Tyre is almost correct...

Magnificent work, following this one with great interest!

Hi again,

working on pylons. They are taken from early Eduard set 48-040 dated 1992 with changes. Frames inproved by AML 'perforated inside rim' AMLE50004. Rockets made by brass rod.

My theory is that frequentflyer is actually a 1/48th scale person who is building this very real Cessna so he can fly around in it...such amazing detail!  I think he is from the same family as built the Caudron G4 in the Floatplane GB!

No, really...seriously...awed by this fine work.

Dear John,

thank you so much for your amazing words. I take the opportunity to show you my previous work, an old Hawk/Testors/Italeri O-2A. I'm sorry to website Administrator if link is taken from other page, unfortunately 'wip page' here is unuseful now due to 'photobucket downgrading'
