1/72 Sword F3D-2 Sky knight

Love it.  Great finish, especially the panel line wash. Nice and subtle.  I'm glad to hear that it went together well as I have a few Sword kits in the stash but have yet to build one.

It's weird to see one of these in gray. Fantastic painting and weathering. BTW, how did you do the panel lines?

Great work!

When ever I think I know everything there is to know about US naval aviation,  I go to your site Turtle and realize you've forgotten more than I ever knew. Thanks for the efforts Mike!

Thanks for the recognition and expression of appreciation: As it turns out, however, I hadn't done justice to the F3D's overhead-hatch variations. For a link to that post and my others on the F3D, see http://tailspintopics.blogspot.com/2017/06/f3d-f-10-skyknight-post-synopsis.html

Beautiful! Don't you put too much blame on yourself. These early jets are not so well represented in publications and internet walkaround forums like later jets. Omitting details happen more often therefore. I really like they way you finished it!

Cheers

Really nice model. I wish I could manage the same- I really struggled with this kit- the air intake parts just don't represent the real aircraft at all- don't know what Sword were trying to do there. My bodge didn't work out well.

Any tips should I try again?
