28ZComeback
I am researching Squadron 13 operations along the southern border of the Soviet Union and request help in identifying the color scheme adopted in the 1948-1949 period. Most sources show high speed silver while others show PRU blue. Many thanks for references. Antti_K
Hello! Martin Bowman's "Mosquito photo-reconnaissance units of World War 2" has an excellent photo of PR.34 VL619 of No. 13 Squadron when based at Fayid, Egypt. Whether the photo was taken during or after WW2 is not mentioned. The photo is of high quality and the aircraft looks very clean. So it is possible that this photo was taken after the war. Some details: - the aircraft is PRU Blue overall - the plane carries large under wing tanks which are painted with a lighter colour (Medium Sea Grey perhaps) - serials are black (fuselage and under wing), "rounded" post war style - WW2 style red/blue RAF Roundel on fuselage - red/white/blue fin flash - grey stencils Best Regards, Antti
28ZComeback
Thanks Antti! I appreciate the information and have downloaded the photo(s). Just wondering why the B roundels in 1950? Best wishes and thank you again.
