Alpha Delta 210
Hi I made a last minute decision yesterday to visit the show. It was my first visit and I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of displays. My favourites were the Whirlwind, B-52 and Tornado. The Typhoon went tech, so only did one flypast and the Hurricane didn't fly. The weather was changeable, with quite a heavy shower just as the Bone was doing his single flypast. I have included a terrible picture of it, just so you can see how awful the weather was for a few minutes! The B-52 surprised everyone by performing his first flypast while Sally B was still displaying. I am pretty sure that shouldn't have happened... I am away with work this week, so might post a few more images over the next couple of days. Thanks for looking.

cathasatail
Beautiful photos! As it was my first outing with a DSLR today, could I ask what lens you were using? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 minutes ago, Paul J said: Love the Italian Tornado!!! Latinbear
Very nice shots as usual! Shame about the weather when the B1 flew by but worth posting just to illustrate how grim it was at that point. The Whirlwind is lovely and very nice to see. Well done to the Italians for displaying the Tornado and also in such an eye catching scheme. Thanks for sharing these.
Jinxman
Nice selection - the Italian Tonka looks great with a little bit of sun on it. Thanks for sharing.
canberraman
Lovely shots as usual. Shame the weather didn't really play ball for the bombers, but I think the Whirlwind and AMI Tornado more than make up for it! Cheers Mark
Alpha Delta 210
Dear all. Thank you very much for the kind words. As the Tornado was such a hit, I have posted a few more below, along with a few more of the BUFF. Hi Sam, I use two Nikon full-frame bodies, one has the Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S attached, and the other has the Nikon 24-120mm f/4 G ED VR AF-S Zoom attached. How did you get on during your first DSLR outing?

How did you get on during your first DSLR outing? Ahhhh wow, those are incredible. Not too bad, a significant improvement over my previous tiny digital camera. Only problem is that i was shooting on a 125mm lens, 300mm was supposed to arrive but alas not yet :\ Kind regards, Sam
Alpha Delta 210
Thanks Sam. I'm glad you like the second batch. My favourite of the day has to be the Tornado banking away with afterburners blazing. Well done on getting those great results with a 125mm! Did you crop them? Which 300mm lens have you bought? Kind regards.

The lens has just (half an hour ago) made it through customs and is in the UK! : Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED Lens -I had purchased another 300mm AF lens but it turned out that the AF wasn't compatible, so I really couldn't trust myself to get any decent airshow pictures with a manual focus Kind regards, Sam Edited June 13, 2017 by cathasatail

cathasatail
I love that final picture with the Jaguars and Harriers- I tried to take a shot like that but it is not as good as yours- I did get a few shots I am pleased with though: (I've got an unconditional offer from the University of Birmingham for this year, so who knows how things will pan out- but I'm definitely considering applying). Simon382
Great pics, just luving the Jags. Use to get deafened by them at Abingdon when our ever so slightly mad OC Flying used to take them out on test flights after major servicing, great memories so thankyou
