"Oooh Matron" It's a P-38 Lightning with a saucy paint job in 1/48 "The RFI"

Hi guys.

I am super pleased to bring you the RFI of my Academy P-38 she has taken a month or so to put together between life and work. :giles:

I decided to build this as the P-38 is one of my all time favorite looking aeroplanes, the twin booms and saucy nose art of these brash beauties was always something very "American" and such a departure from other schemes and markings.

The WIP can be found

It's been a really fun build with loads of extras thrown in for good measure.  I'll list after the pics. I wanted to test out my Photo tent that I picked up a while ago, I was intrigued as I usually cobble something together from paper or go outside for my RFI shots. I have taken such a lot of pics and I can't choose which ones to add so I'm going to share them all.

:pilot:

hope you're ready there's a metric flip tonne of em.

I said there were a lot.

Basically I put the tights (Lights, doh!) inside and outside the tent and couldn't decide which were the best so you got the lot. (Well a trimmed down the lot)

Items used in this build apart from your standard Academy P-38 were.

Aries cockpit set.

Brassin wheel set.

Brassin UC set.

Brassin turbo set.

kagero decals "Beautiful Bitch"

paints.

Tamiya acrylics.

Vallejo metal colour acrylics.

W&N oils

and some EZ line.

Thank you all for following along with the WIP

and I hope you will join me on my new stringy fiasco.

I've really fallen for this new hobby something rotten and this site of ours is something very special and a wonderful place.

I hope you like my latest and enjoyed the WIP if you followed along.

I had a blast! :yahoo:

Thake care and I'll see you on the other side brothers and sisters.

Johnny.

Happy Modelling.

Very smart on every level. I got kinda left behind on the WIP, a time thing mainly but enjoyed a peak in occasionally & could tell it was going to be worth watching out for the RFI, as is most certainly the case. :)

Nice looking P38 you've put together there. Enjoyed the build from the rows at the back. Epic walk-around in the RFI. I'll get through all those pics eventually.  :crosseyed:

Excellent result Johnny. She is indeed a 'Beautiful Bitch'! That photo tent has really helped with the pictures and you can really see the detail in your finish. Great effects on the NMF. Really enjoyed shadowing your build with my 1/72 and here's to the next one! :drink:
