Hello dears,

Very glad today !! I was on my last day of evening work.

I paid a visit to a friend of mine and we exchanged  kits. I take this one

A way for me to improve my Ni Fi collection, I took the box in my service car, on the seat.

Then I was bond for another intervention, I'm working for the belgian AA.

I fix the car of my client and he saw the Dornier on my seat.

Asking me if I'm a modeller, obviously the answer has been a clear "Yes I'm, to the bone !!"

He was glad about the way I fixed his car and told me about my center of interest.

The answer has been "Mainly naval aviation even if the Dornier is not related, USN and FAA are my favourites and mainly 1/48"

He told me "wait a minute please"

I waited as the man get in his house and he's been back with this one...

Very nice, a chance coming together and a bit of kindness to show appreciation, life can be a funny old thing!

Very nice. Like the Viper. Really looks a good model to construct.

Had a similar experience outside of model making.

Did a couple of DIY jobs for a flat a few yards along the corridor. Maria a

Portuguese lady turns up every few days with jersey Royals and a lettuce.

Her husband Manuel (not DIY minded) is a gardener for a wealthy person

and there is an abundance of vegetables. I like it.

Right, new rule.

Every Britmodeller should have

an Airfix Spitfire on their car dashboard.

Who knows what could happen?

...they'll get bounced by police cars with 109s on the dashboard Pete.

(I wonder what a 1/144 aircraft might be like dangling from the rearview mirror though...:hmmm:)

What about the big furry dices ??

I fixed a car month ago and there was two women's strings hanging on there:hmmm:

Can you only imagine what can be found into peoples's cars:rofl:

Thanks for the kind comments, will start the viper soon and now must find an AH-1 Cobra

That way I will have Cobra from A to Z:rofl:

Yes, it was a good day, I really enjoy it.

Sincerely.

I'm currently pondering placing an airfix Buccaneer there.

Pox-ridden piece of festering insults pretending to be a kitset. A curse upon it!

Whaaaaat ?? Once again, someone that cannot appreciate the beauty of some FAA aicrafts

I'll start my 1/48 Airfix Bucc as soon as I finished my equally difficult Lightning F.6

Am I a kind of maso ?? I also work on a Fonderie Sikorski R5.

Sincerely.

I LOVE!!!! the Bucc!

Can't stand airfix though...

(I'll get back to it soon. Just currently enjoying a kit that actually fits together and had been designed by experts, not gorillas with sledgehammers and the brain of a peanut... *mutter, grumble*)

If you don't want it you could always donate it to my collection of unloved plastic.

Not exactly a tip, but this happened to me earlier in the week.

I saw a colleague I hadn't seen for a while in the canteen at work, and he said he had something for me. I knew he'd just been on holiday to Australia with his wife, so was pretty curious what this might be.

It turned out that he'd had to break off the holiday and head for the UK, where his father was gravely ill. He died two days after my colleague got there.

While going through his effects later, my colleague came across a plane kit - his father built the odd model now and then - and thought of me.

You can bet that kit, the old Revell Fokker E.III, is going to have some real care and attention lavished upon it.

That is really nice Steve.

Had a similar experience. The accountant on the management team which look after our flats some how found I built models.

He knew a lot about the RAF and aircraft. Chatted on. Couple of days later when in his office on business he pushed this box

towards me and said is that any good. Cannot remember think it was a Revell RAF WW11 aircraft. He said I found it looking

into my departed dad's collection of stuff.

Thought that was very nice indeed. Took it back to my flat. Couple of days later I thought I would investigate. Opened the package

and there was the sprue complete in tact. But that was all. Had a chuckle. Did not tell the accountant unless he asked. Which

he has not

ah, this has reminded me that I have been very, very forgetful.

In '12 I went with no.1 son to deliver something in Norfolk.

Chap was very grateful to us.

When he found out I built models he gave me an Airfix Tornado and Vulcan which he'd been given

Only one caveat with them; they both have to be 617 squadron's colours as he was in 617 and worked on the Tornados, [avionics iirc]

ummm, still not built either,

Yup, I still have a Titanic from and for a friend, I started her... in 1997 :worry:

There is definitely not enough guns on this one, I proposed a fair number of times that he should take it back and try another modeller...

But no, just telling me, take your time....^_^ So I did

Will start the cobra (viper) soon, never tried a chopper exept the Fonderie Sikorski, wich is not the best choice ever for a first

617th ?? The other Dambusters ??

Sincerely.

  • 7 months later...

Hello Dears,

Did'nt think that I could have a reason to reopen this one, one day but ...

When I fix the car of a nurse, I used to ask for some Hypodermic needles...

Most of the time, I'm looking at like some kind of a junkie or thing like that...

Some of thèses gentle ladies gave me 5 or so needles;

saying that, I'll give you some big caliber, you will not sting yourself with...

Or the contrary, I'll give you tiny ones, you cannot inject yourself anything with...

But the last one I fixed on thursday night is from a different breed....

She asked me, So, if you're a modeller, you don't need sterile needles ? don't you ??

My Ex husband was also a modeller, wait a minute !

And Tatzaaaaam !!

40022177842_20dc91608d_b.jpg

So, I learned that hypodermic needles have an expiry date... And thèses have all expired, which is not a big problem to become a gun barrel or a pitot tube... Is'nt it ?

A few hours before, I fixed the car of an old man, he invited me to have a good beer with him for thanking me.

I answered that I cannot drink while I'm working and I don't need to be controled by the cops and be nailed !

He get back home and came back to me with this ...

40022177852_10666124b0_b.jpg

Saying that I'm a clever one, and drink it at home !

Let's say, thursday has been a good day finally...

That make you forgetting about cold and rain !

So, to that old man and to you all my modellers friends....

40022177982_b338ebf695_b.jpg

Cheeeeeers !!

Sincerely.

That was a very mindful way of expressing his gratitude! Somebody actually paying attention to the people around them. :thumbsup2:

If he's a modeller himself, I hope he's reading this thread :)

PS: Off to researching that kit a bit
